Looks like a lot of 40-something executives are strip-mining their childhood nostalgia these days.
And this is why I rarely watch anything from the States these days.

Amen.
He was warrior and mystic, ogre and saint, the fox and the innocent, chivalrous, ruthless, less than a god, more than a man. There is no measuring Muad'Dib's motives by ordinary standards. In the moment of his triumph, he saw the death prepared for him, yet he accepted the treachery. Can you say he did this out of a sense of justice? Whose justice, then? Remember, we speak now of the Muad'Dib who ordered battle drums made from his enemies' skins, the Muad'Dib who denied the conventions of his ducal past with a wave of the hand, saying merely: "I am the Kwisatz Haderach. That is reason enough."

You better get your arsenal prepared, because there's about a .05% chance that film won't totally blow the farm goats.MaggotMaster wrote:If Hollywood messes up the Watchmen movie I'm going to go and personally kill everyone responsible in the most atrocious and humillating ways I can possibly think of.
RE OP: Why would Hollywood come up with new ideas when they can milk the family/fantasy book-to-film process for all the juice it's good for? Looks like they even turned Susan Cooper's masterpiece The Dark is Rising (pt. 2 in the sequence) into a crappy family movie (The Seeker). I'm actually re-reading those books now. Liked them as a kid, but I've loved them this time around. Such a same to make a movie that sucks all the magic out of it.

I don't see the fucking point in doing a Watchmen movie. I mean, yeah, it's a good story in and of itself, but not really one that would translate well to film without big chaanges, plus half of it is really a commentary on comics themselves.
Tell me, is something eluding you, sunshine?
Is this not what you expected to see?
If you wanna find out what's behind these cold eyes
You'll just have to claw your way through this disguise!

BUMP
I thought I should bump this because I saw something earlier that made me so VIOLENTLY ill it's a miracle that I am still alive
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knight_Rider_%282008_film%29
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJzqZiiM1BE
this so WRONG for many reasons
1) read the topic line again ITT
2) I am disappointed that William Daniels will not be the voice of KITT, as he originally was
3) I am also disappointed that Glen A. Larson, the creator of Knight Rider, allowed The Weinstein Company to purchase the rights to the show, which IMO, is the only reason this thing is being remade.
4) KITT will not be an early '80's Pontiac Firebird but a brand new Shelby GT500KR, while I don't necessarily have a MASSIVE problem with but that vehicle just doesn't feel right, it would have been better IMO if they had a concept car, something like Chevy Volt
Anyway, Glen Larson and that "Hoff" had been fighting off and on for years about how to go about making a film adaption. At one point, Ben Affleck was considered to do the voice of KITT; yeah, you read that right. BEN AFFLECK!!!!

May God have mercy on our souls.
I'm going to be one of those nerds who shows up at the first midnight showing of the 2nd X-Files movie.

SCREENSHOTS OR IT'S NOT TRUE
anyway, I was a BIG fan of the pilot (IMO the greatest pilot of any show EVAR) and not the series
the "horror" element outweighed the sci-fi WAY too often IMO
