in a listing on the production diary for the rebuild movies on yahoo Japan, i came across an interesting post which states that advance tickets for Rebuild 1 is sold out and rebuild 2 tickets are already on sale. i read the garbled babel fish translation, here's what it says.

"That advance sale ticket 1st feature, sold completely with entire country, the information entered. Everyone whom you purchase, thank you truly. With simultaneously, it is advancing also advance sale ticket 2nd feature plan steadily. Presently it is in the midst of ardent job even inside the studio. This please has enjoyed, please."

UPDATE: according to the same blog diary, the tickets (remember this is a ROUGH translation) will be 3D. Not sure how it means, but it said the advance tickets are "larger" and has "become three-dimensional printing specification"

If anybody could search ebay or yahoo Japan that'd be nice to find out what these advance tickets look like.

here's the original Japanese text.

O_O Wow. So I guess the only people who'll be able to see it theatrically are the ones who've already ordered tickets?

So, are any of you gonna fly to Japan to go watch the new animated movies? Just curious.

I plan to. As soon as the flight dates get finalized (my GF is the one looking for tickets, plus she needs to take vacation days), my friend in Nagoya will buy the tickets.

I've always wanted to visit Japan, but I don't have the time and money to go too.

Man, I would've wanted to see End of Evangelion in cinema. What an experience!
NGE, N. G. E., N. G. Evangelion, Neon Genesis Evangelion.

NOT Eva or EVA. Please. >_<

hahaha I did =) first encounter with Eva too. It was amusing, but we ruined the film for everyone else with commentary and laughter.

EDIT: Just jävlar, du är ju svensk. Dåså;

Like somebody else mentioned, if I had the time and money, I'd so do it. ^_^;
And yes, seeing EoE in theaters would have ruled. *_*

At least there's always the internet for watching. (And of course, actually buying the films WHEN they're released statewise.)

Oh and FYI, I plan on typing up the transcript of June 2007 Newtype USA at some point this weekend. It has one page about Webuild Glow-in-the-Dark Yui-sama and 2 pages on Petite Eva (yes that's what its called), and it mentions how an animated work is POSSIBLE, but for now its just those figures.

The theatre experience was mainly what I was after (that and Akihabara and maybe a JGTC race at Suzuka). I actually planned on watching it twice and have my friend summarize the dialogue the second time around but I don't think my GF would humor me a second time, since Evangelion wasn't really an anime that she's into: http://evageeks.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=64267#64267

They should do a US Theater release, they could possibly do just as good. You never know.

If they released it here, all the Rei fanbois would've bought out all the tickets before we "normal" people can get them.

That's true. Then I guess we'll have to act like Rei fanboys under disguise so we can get enough tickets for all of EvaMonkey Members :D

the only chance we have for rebuild hitting US theatres is for an independent distributer buying the rights and it getting a limited release, it's unfortunate, but if i remember, the only anime's to get a wide release was spirited away and akira (or was akira a limited release?)
