Thought on using "Rei's Poem"

Postby V » Sun Apr 29, 2007 7:48 am

re: Rei's poem from Episode 14; I got this funny idea that they should actually work that into either Rebuild or Live Action, but as a joke; i.e. in school they have "write your own poem" assignment and Rei stands in front of class and recites the poem.

This, of course, falls into the same category as "wouldn't it be cool if Asuka hums Rammestein to herself absentmindedly at some point"

Like a funny homage? That would be great. Then, Shinji can have a headache like when he was in Unit-01.

yeah I mean like as an in-joke

maybe not even the entire poem; i.e. Asuka and Shinji have a conversation in class and Rei is heard reciting it in the backround

This thread tickles my fancy! MOAR!!
If I have no soul to touch, no heart to love, no evil to rise up above
No angels and no ghosts, no real victories to toast
If you believe that this is true then I must ask;
to what end do you proceed?

That's really funny, imagining it. Kensuke goes up, reads a war styled poem. Touji goes up, reads a poorly written, but hard-worked poem about his sister. Shinji goes up, a lot of "blue, shoe, clue" kiddie rhyming about nothing in particular. Rei goes up, recites poem, looks up to a sea of disturbed/confused faces.

Well yeah seriously, I mean just "in the backround" as Asuka, Shinji, Toji and Hikari talk about something else.

Whoa. O_O Though it's the dub and an "AMV" somebody did, it works really well with EoE footage. Though because Rei was in Unit01 when saying the part about "sensing someone else", I believe it implied Yui as opposed to having Lilith's soul??

Anyway, having various nods to the original even in the background WOULD be pretty sweet. ^__^

It's a "monologue", not a "poem".

Er...a 'poetic monologue'?

If someone read that in my class I'd laugh at them and throw stuff at them, then make fun of Toji's sister, hit on Asuka, take Kensuke's glasses, make out with Shinji, and spread rumors that Hikari is Pregnant, and you would too. The whole class is bully material.

Awesomely Shitty

-On EMF, as a thread becomes longer, the likelihood that fem-Kaworu will be mentioned increases exponentially.
-the only English language novel actually being developed in parallel to its Japanese version involving a pan-human Soviet in a galactic struggle to survive and to export the communist utopia/revolution to all the down trodden alien class and race- one of the premise being that Khrushchev remains and has abandoned Lysenko stupidity

Hikari pregnant- I'm sure you can find fan fiction of that.

As for the poem. Nah. It just sounds like one of those lame "nudge, nudge, wink, wink" moments to please only the fans....who then go around and complain because well...their fans. They always find a way.

I don't even thik too much timeis gonna be spent at the school despite all the hoopla about it. 15-20 minutes tops. Probably have the teacher upgraded to a hottie to sell some kind of bikini based figurine at some point.

Though "Rei's Poem" was a good moment in the TV series. It was the quintessential moment when you could tell..."Wait, I thought this was an action series....why's she floating naked across the sky? Why doesn't she have nipples (if I based my knowledge of women on anime nipples seem to come and go depending on the situation)?"
Now whenever I see that scene I just go- "Oh Anno!"

Am I the only person who hates the "poem"? And am I the only Evangelion enthusiast who hasn't memorised the bloody thing?

IT'S OFFICIALLY CALLED "Rei'S MONOLOGUE", PEOPLE.

IF I HAVE TO HEAR ONE MORE THING ABOUT A "POEM", I'M GOING TO KILL SOMEBODY.
