ADV Strikes Again

I recently received an e-mail from www.amazon.com that stated, among other things, that a large percentage of the people who purchased Neon Genesis Evangelion: Perfect Collection also bought the first platinum edition DVD. It seems ADV was correct in assuming fans who already own the old DVDs would buy the new ones. Go ADV! W00t! W00t!

I'd like to read exactly what this e-mail said.

The relevant section is:

Amazon wrote:Dear Amazon.com Customer,

We've noticed that customers who have purchased Neon Genesis
Evangelion - Perfect Collection also purchased Neon Genesis Evangelion
- Platinum Collection 2 on DVD. For this reason, you might like to
know that Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum Collection 2 will be
released on September 21, 2004 on DVD. You can pre-order yours at a
savings of 18% by following the link below.

Ha.

Well, it's not like we had any choice before Platinum. Buying the Perfect Collection was really the only way many of us could ever see the series (until ABC goes out on a limb and picks it up). I wouldn't have bought Platinum if the Perfect Collection wasn't so, you know... crappy.

Amen to that, Hunter21.

I'd like to get it, but am currently broke at the moment.

I've got the whole series on DVD already, but I'd like the audio commentary with Spike Spencer.

 Hooray for audio commentary!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Audio Commentary. Turns out Spike did the voice of my favorite non-eva character and I hadn't even noticed! (In case your wondering, the character is Gojo Shioji from Excel Saga.)

Those audio commentaries hold absolutely no appeal for those of us who are frightened by ADV and their puppet-minions. Honestly, after sitting in on ADV's panel at last Otakon, I am permanently scarred. ADV's voice actors and their more vocal fans terrify me.

Granted, Tiffany Grant sounded ridiculously endearing on the Platinum 0:2 DVD. Which took me completely by surprise, considering her take on Asuka makes my stomach churn. Not to turn this into one of those futile dub-vs-sub wars.
