Eva Monkey: Version 4

http://www.evamonkey.com/version_4/

I was working on this back in January, but I never really got around to finishing it. I was hoping to have it up by the end of January, but the coming of the Spring semester side-tracked me, and whenever I went back to look at the design, I had a general dissatisfaction with it and never implemented it.

The navigation would be similar to the current drop down, and would be located in the upper right. The disclaimer would go in the lower right. The Eva Monkey logo would go over top of the katakana for Evangelion.

I really like the dynamicism of the design, but I really didn't like how monochromatic it was. I was also concerned that the design was made up of too many images and would take a while to load.

I would like to take this design and adapt it to a new design, and I think I could use any suggestions people could make.

And please, don't turn this into an argument for or against the use of Rei Ayanami.

Very nice, I like it.

I sort of like the monochromatic look. The blue/gray is rather relaxing to look at.

He was warrior and mystic, ogre and saint, the fox and the innocent, chivalrous, ruthless, less than a god, more than a man. There is no measuring Muad'Dib's motives by ordinary standards. In the moment of his triumph, he saw the death prepared for him, yet he accepted the treachery. Can you say he did this out of a sense of justice? Whose justice, then? Remember, we speak now of the Muad'Dib who ordered battle drums made from his enemies' skins, the Muad'Dib who denied the conventions of his ducal past with a wave of the hand, saying merely: "I am the Kwisatz Haderach. That is reason enough."

I would prefer the colorization to be brighter and more "alive" (though I would do my best not to go overboard and make it look like the Vegas strip or Tokyo at night). However, the simple overall look works for me.

I rather like the subdued colors, so you should just go with that. Simple is better.

Also, Crackhead Asuka never really bugged me... heh... Oh well.

Your current design is better than this.
If I have no soul to touch, no heart to love, no evil to rise up above
No angels and no ghosts, no real victories to toast
If you believe that this is true then I must ask;
to what end do you proceed?

Perhaps if the new Rei design featured lighter toned grays and blues it might not seem so....depressing? Is that the word I'm looking for? Overall, I do like the design.

I'm curious how Eva Unit 01's color scheme applied to a template would fair.

I think you have more important things to do than give your site a makeover.

I tried it once or twice for my Livejournal layout. It totally hurt my eyes. x_o Purple and green, it's just...Oh, great Yui-sama, forgive meeee! too bright and wacky for a site layout.

Though, she does make a good point. I rather like the current layout, even though I do like this new one you've shown. And the forum could use a little bit of work, itself (I think that's what she's implying, not totally sure)...

I don't think so, the whole scheme just reeks of "first website ever". The current one is easier on the eyes, prettier, less cold and less depressing. If it was up to me; I'd never trade it for that.

There is something to say about KISS Keep It Simple Stupid. Making the front page all messy with tons graphics comes off as much more newbish than a simple scheme.

I'll be blunt; Its actually not bad at all.
