if you're using windows, you really just need the microsoft media service link:
mms://wmcontents06.cdn.yahoo-streaming.jp/yahoo/event/evangelion/eva_movie_trailer_1m.wmv

If you're not using windows, mplayer plays it fine when I give it an mms link. But there's no footage, just text and it sounds like an orchestra tuning (for a long time) in the background.

The big graphic that occupies most of the page is toted as a message from Anno: "What are we trying to make again?"

I can't even view the entire trailer; the visual half freezes shortly after it displays "chuuban (<blurry characters>)". But in any case, if this is real, the combination of "new character" and "new Eva" gives me a bad feeling.

And the "Wevangeliwon" typography is still stupid.

I was hoping the new character wouldn't be a pilot. :|
Anywho, I wasn't expecting anything more than this, but still, maybe you could've added a second of animation? Or at the least, a few flashing images? >_<

Well the trailer was EXACTLY what I expected it to be. This is a Teaser TEASER really. JUst supposed to inform the uninformed that- "HEY, THERE'S NEW EVA!!!"....I know, I too was shocked to learn some people are unaware.

So now we're given at least ONE official bit of info- the new character (singular) is an EVA pilot. I was sorta expecting that too. So perhaps the new mode of discussion should be how you want this character to be? Male/female, fucked up beyond all belief/actually content with who they are. I for one just hope it's not A- a new "love" interest for Shin-chan, and B- not ANOTHER homo-sidekick, one Kaworu is more than enough.

Oh one question by the way, we have been assured that ALL the animation is going to be new right? There isn't going to be any recycled old TV animation cut into newly produced work is there?

And does anyone besides me refuse to call this 4 films? Unless things have changed (which I would love them too) aren't EVA 0.3 and FINAL going to be played back to back? I'll just keep calling it the NEW EVANGELION TRILOGY.

Speaking of which (god I have a lot....well, its because yesterday I celebrated my EVAversary with a friend...I'm kind've a newbie next to most people here and it was a year ago yesterday I first saw EPisode 16 on TV and immediatly fell in love iwth Evangelion- went out and against my budget bought the entire series and movies on DVD...and ate ramen for the next 4 days. So my friend and I watched ALL Evangelion from Epsiode 1-26, DEath and Rebirth and EOE. Wow, was it fun but did my eyes and head hurt at the end....) anywho, sorry-

Speaking of which, this whole Wervangewion thingie...doesn't the Kanji still when spoken by Japanese translate to "Evangelion" and its only when translated to english it becomes that "thing"? Am I wrong? Cause if the kanji still means EVANGELION than who gives a fuck about Wervangewion or howeveer you spell it.

Ok, I shut up now.

I'm all for "Wevangeliwon". Because now it is two products - Eva and Weva. If you don't like the new movies, it won't "ruin" Eva for you, because it's not Eva. It's Weva. It's a good way of showing that they're too separate entities.

Oh and on another note- I'm guessing probably 2 months until an actual teaser with some footage.
Damn it I want to see if the character designs and Eva designs have changed!!!

Wevangeliwon.

Katakana, not kanji.

In kana, ゑ/ヱ and を/ヲ represent the sounds we and wo, which are effectively "discontinued syllables" absent from contemporary Japanese, nor part of the 'approved' orthography [save for を/ヲ when used to write the standard-issue particle (w)o].

Utilizing them in Japanese words or names that were originally pronounced/written that way (e.g., "Kaworu" カヲル) for an 'archaic feel' or stylistic purposes (etc.) is one thing, but incorporating them into a foreign (in this case, Greek) word like "Evangelion" is a bit befuddling and, IMO, tacky.

Ooooohhh.

Thank you.

It doesn't bother me but since I know nothing about Japanese I was curious.

I'll still call it Evangelion

Good call. Though I feel the urge to say "Eva" and "Whateva" instead.

I thought ゑ/ヱ was pronounced "ware" not "we".
