EoE ever win any awards?

According to this Viz Media merchandise catalogue my stepbrother gave me, on the page about the Eva manga, one "key point" was the following:

~The feature film, The End of Evangelion won a Japanese Academy Award in 1997.

I was just wondering if this is true and or did EoE win any awards? You'd think it would just because the message is brilliant even if it is something of a head trip. "Dudde..." @_@ Although in terms of headtrips, THAT award should go to EoTV, ah-ha-ha. I slay me.
