Is Evangelion your FAVORITE anime?
as i am kind of suffering from evangelion burnout right now (and getting into some more stuff i haven't watched), i'd like to ask a question: is evangelion your personal favorite series?
i still love it, natch, but on the whole, i think r.o.d the tv and last exile are my current favorites. ghost in the shell: stand alone complex and gilgamesh are two other shows that i enjoy.

"Favourite" is a difficult thing.
NGE certainly has a very special place in my affections - if that is the right word for something that emotionally scarred me - as a landmark in things I have read or watched. It will, I am reasonably sure, stand out as an individual, rather than being lost in the mass.
I'm more likely to be excited about titles I'm currently watching or have recently watched (those that are more than just eye-candy, at least).

If one truly believes that there isn't anything better than Evangelion, why bother watching anime at all? I've never been the type to choose a single one out of many as a "favorite" or "best", there are plenty of great shows, some better or worse in some ways than others.
The only times I watch Evangelion these days (not counting rewatching a set of scenes), is when I show it to other people and I'm there more or less as a neutral commentator.

Currently, yes, considering it's the latest anime I've gotten into--my current love--so to speak. :P
There are other anime and/or manga I like (Excel Saga, Ebichu, Marmalade Boy, Gravivation), though in terms of # 1 favorite next to Eva, would have to be Sailormoon. It was the show that pretty much got me into anime (though I did see some episodes of Robotech and Voltron beforehand, during Toonami 1998), and hey, you can't go wrong with Mitsuishi Kotono-sama. Though I admit 5 seasons, 200 episodes and 3 movies (plus several speicals) of the "monster-of-the-day" formula DOES wear out thin; it's a shame it couldn't have been closer to Takeuchi-sensei's manga in that respect, espeically the Sailor Stars (5th season, unreleased in America) arc of the anime and manga.

Eva is stil my favorite but I rarely watch it anymore. (Its probably been a year since I last saw it) It is more my favorite for sentimental reasons than anything. It was the first anime I really got hooked on. Now I watch a whole range of other anime from many different genres. I get bored with only one type of anime all the time.

Without question. The only anime that have come remotely close to being regarded as highly as Eva in my eyes are Eureka Seven, Gankutsuou, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, and Kare Kano.
He was warrior and mystic, ogre and saint, the fox and the innocent, chivalrous, ruthless, less than a god, more than a man. There is no measuring Muad'Dib's motives by ordinary standards. In the moment of his triumph, he saw the death prepared for him, yet he accepted the treachery. Can you say he did this out of a sense of justice? Whose justice, then? Remember, we speak now of the Muad'Dib who ordered battle drums made from his enemies' skins, the Muad'Dib who denied the conventions of his ducal past with a wave of the hand, saying merely: "I am the Kwisatz Haderach. That is reason enough."
