Info on live action movie

Postby Timesplitter 01 » Sun Aug 08, 2004 9:05 pm

At the ADV Films panel at Metrocon 2004, David Williams said the
sparseness of news was because all information released on the project
was agreed to be approved by all three parties involved: Gainax, WETA,
and ADV. He did say the movie is moving ahead fine. They are currently
working on script treatments and are down to a shortlist of directors.
In a separate interview, Williams said that there has been no decision
made yet as to whether the film will encompass the entire story of
Evangelion or just the beginning.

I though this might be better suited to the news forum

So, the same thing again and again.

In the future, please provide a link to the source. I have had problems with news sites in the past. :(

The fact that they haven't even decided if the film will encompass the entire story or just the beginning is testament that we are still a long ways off, which would imply a different idea of "moving along fine". I guess by that statement, they mean that no one involved has suddenly died.

I nominate Kathryn Bigelow.

Actually, it is from Anime News Network, the post on Trivial Being didn't credit Anime News Network either.

That would be teh r0x0rz, but I really doubt he's going to have any involvement with the movie besides being the general overseer, if that. Isn't he busy already directing the live action Cutey Honey?

He finished that awhile ago and it got good to decent reviews.

Anno's latest project was directing the new cutey honey anime series, "Re-Cutey Honey".

I think he is done with it already...

Anno better direct if he knows what's good for him.

Yea and God said to Abraham, "You will kill your son Issac." And Abraham said, "I can't hear you, you'll have to speak into the microphone." And God said, "Oh I'm sorry, Is this better? Check, check, check... Jerry, pull the high end out, I'm still getting some hiss back here."

I think would be unfair to both Anno and the movie if he were somehow forced to direct it. Based on the expectation of most fans, it would be a chore to have to tell more or less the same story again in a new format, and the film's energetic texture would probably be so similar to the anime as to lose a facet of its entire purpose. Besides, based on how things went down with the original, I would think he'd try to distance himself from this as much as possible until the film was finished, at least from a labor standpoint. I'm not certain as to how much shit he actually gives when it comes to Eva anymore.

Nope, not nearly. The release dates for the OAVs are as follows:

09/10/04 - Episode 1
10/08/04 - Episode 2
11/12/04 - Episode 3

So, the first OAV doesn't come out for another month. Given that, he's probably in the midst of crunch time with this OAV.

Well, there you go. We'll probably be lucky if he spends more than a passing glance on a cast list.

I have read that The live action movie is going to be totally westernised , ( and I mean TOTALLY , I know this is not new but anways) how sad.

I feel sorry for the director , he is going to get more death threats than Anno ( about 10 times more ) .

But the plus side is that we get to send in the death threats or hate mail if you will
