It's not my connection, I get the same latency from DC, Pittsburgh, and NYC.
[code:1]PING www.evamonkey.com (66.235.199.151) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from host175.ipowerweb.com (66.235.199.151): icmp_seq=1 ttl=48 time=92.2 ms
64 bytes from host175.ipowerweb.com (66.235.199.151): icmp_seq=2 ttl=48 time=92.5 ms
64 bytes from host175.ipowerweb.com (66.235.199.151): icmp_seq=3 ttl=48 time=92.2 ms
64 bytes from host175.ipowerweb.com (66.235.199.151): icmp_seq=4 ttl=48 time=92.2 ms[/code:1]

The slowness is from the webserver:

Note the timestamps in the prompt, accessing a forum took 3 minutes for the webserver to respond and about 2 minutes when I access the main page.

It happened to me, too. Thing is, this isn't the first time.

I have noticed this has happened a couple times before but it always fixes itself eventually, just show a little patience people.

10 or 20 seconds is acceptable, but 3 minutes for apache2 to parse the request, launch a php script and do a bunch of mysql queries means there's something wrong with the machine (buggy script taking up resources, cron job that's scheduled weird or some system conf error, DOS type attack, SYN flood/TARPIT attack, or whatever), which was why I brought it up. If it was only 20, or even 30 seconds to load a page, I'd assume the machine was just under normal heavy load and suck it up.

I just felt like quoting the quote of a quote.

I feel that due to the inactivity of this thread that the issue of really slowiness has been resolved and I have no idea why people have started posting in this again.

Because this thread was lit up with the "new posts" icon, probaly due to me not having poked around in here since before the last post and not noticing the date. Mea culpa.

Ah yes, I too am guilty of blindly following the new post icon. =D
