Not Eva related, but Anno related.
Hideaki Anno's 2000 film Shiki-Jitsu is honestly one of my favorite films, in terms of Anno's work I might even like it more than Evangelion. The fact that I like it so much, just makes it all the more infuriating that there's essentially no official merchandise outside of Japan. One day while reading the comments on this upload of a piece of the film's soundtrack, I found a link to the film's site which specifically has a merchandise page mechandise page. Now, most of the stuff here is pretty self-explanatory, except for an item that Google translates as "Pamphlet (includes the original "Escape Dream")". Now, it doesn't take a long time on Google to figure out that "Escape Dream" is actually Touhimu, the novella by Ayako Fujitani which the film is based on. But that doesn't really make sense. If it's just a pamphlet, doesn't including the whole novella seem a little excessive? At that point, it's just a book. Well, how much of the pamphlet is the novella, and how much is content from the film? At this point, I had to know but was disappointed to find no scans of it existed, other than a few pictures of the cover. But my determination got the better of me and I looked around on Yahoo Auctions Japan and Mercari for a real one. After getting my ass blasted by shipping costs, I can now say I'm one of the only people outside of Japan to own a copy of one of these things, and it feels good. So, without further ado, I present to the other 5 Shiki-Jitsu fans on here, for the first time on the internet, a scan of (the first half of) the Shiki-Jitsu pamphlet:

Now, 3 things I need to get out of the way. This isn't just a "Pamphlet", this sucker is about 100 pages long. This is in fact JUST the Shiki-Jitsu section, this thing does contain Touhimu and I'll scan that if there's any demand for it, but the reason I haven't is Thing #3. This book is entirely in Japanese. So if there's anyone out there who loves Shiki-Jitsu as much as me, and can translate it, please do.
Oh and, one more thing. I have now opened Pandora's box. My new life mission is to acquire every product listed on the website, even the scripts. So if you have any info on acquiring those, or want to send a translation, email me at [email protected].

Welp, I don't think this thing will ever get translated, but I'm just happy it's available now. Even if no one replies to tell me, even if it hasn't happened yet, I feel like I've at least helped one person learn about this film, and that's all I really wanted

I am definitely reading this once I get the chance. Shiki-Jitsu was an amazingly depressed film (not a depressing film, no, the film itself is suffering from depression), and it's one of Anno's most honest live-action films he's made so far.

I too, was super obsessed with the movie, it felt like it continued Anno's personal Meta-narrative after EoE and I was so fascinated. (time flies, that was in 2013, at the time the movie was even obscurer and harder to find than now) Also, the way the movie is shot... Just GORGEOUS.
Either way, I love the Pamphlet, please scan the rest!!

The second half, being the novella, is JUST text, no pictures no nothing. I haven't scanned it because it basically has no use to someone who can't speak Japanese. If I'm bored I might scan it for simply preservation purposes. If we can find a translator I'll scan it ASAP though
