Reiquarium Images - New Interpretations and Ideas

I'm rather new here and don't know if this is the right place to post this, but here I go.

I'm referring to these images: https://wiki.evageeks.org/Theory_and_Analysis:Dummy_Plug_Plant_Images
Read up on them if you're unfamiliar.

I'm fascinated by them and have always wondered what the 'unknowable' ones could be depicting, so I gave it a shot. I don't know if some of these connections have been made before or if they've been solved years ago.

First comparison
SPOILER: Show
Image
What we're seeing here is the First Impact (aka "Giant Impact" irl), which makes some sense since the report we see is talking about the Second Impact. If you're gonna call something the second of its kind it would make sense to also reference the first.

Second comparison
SPOILER: Show
Image
Of course still up for debate, but should be pretty self-explanatory. I just can't help but see a hand and a brain there. Probably from the creation of the Magi.

Third comparison (highly speculative)
SPOILER: Show
Image
This one is still the biggest mystery, but I've tried to make something out of it. Don't take it too seriously.

  • Tower of Babel: Anno is of course no stranger to this one.
  • Long-haired woman: A far fetch to see a person in there, but I found this picture from Nausicaä's intro to look quite similar. (It's also an angeru)
  • Highway sign: This seems pretty clear, so I'm guessing this is/used to be a city.
  • Ship mooring: This is mainly to recognize the similar-looking object in the foreground, which seems to be screwed onto a tiled floor with a black line on it. But also consider: mooring ≈ anchor = Ikari (crazy I know)
It also just reminds me of the wasteland in 3.0, which may or may not have any significance

So that's all I got. What do you think?

The "First Impact" connection is intriguing, and your juxtaposition of choice makes it all the more so. No one has suggested this before, to my knowledge, so thank you for the valuable contribution! :D

If I have any misgivings, they come from two things:

(A) It's a bit inconclusive, but the photo always gave me the impression of two linked objects in some sort of fluidic medium. Can all of that wavy stuff be reasonably interpreted as a "spacescape", as it were?

(B) The image is inescapably distorted, but, at least in this edit (which I created by basically just cobbling together sections from multiple frames that showed detail instead of being blurry), we have one body that is very clearly round, and the other is... rather less so. The one on the right seems to have a more oval-shaped profile, as far as I can tell. Maybe this is still just an artifact, but it's something to consider.

Regarding the shape: I don't think it's distinctly oval enough to rule out a distorted planetoid. Even in the image I provided Earth looks somewhat oval.
I know it doesn't quite look like the spheres are touching, but if you wanted to you could interpret some of the surrounding specs as debris that is being propelled away from the impact point.

It's interesting because the theory regarding the origin of the moon is actually irl called the Giant Impact Theory. So naturally, that would be First Impact in NGE when Lilith arrived and messed up everything Adam was doing...which wasn't much seeing as she fell on her own spear. And given Rei's association with the moon and moon imagery throughout the show, that easily adds up.

But yeah, nice catch with the Magi image! Sure it's just interpretation at this point, but that looks pretty damn close.

As far as the third image...Is that not part of Adam's Geofront? The "pool" area could even be the White Moon's version of the lake we see surrounding Never HQ in the Black Moon...

It could be a crater of some kind. That thing in the middle the mechanical looking "arm" looks like some sort of machinery that gets pretty far down...Perhaps here they were excavating Adam from the ice?

I guess its hard to tell if that's just really big hole or water....

Either way, this is some rather refreshing analysis and your speculations are very unique and interesting. Especially considering we've been sitting on these images for years without the slightest ability to make heads or tails of most of them!

Well I'm glad this is being appreciated ^_^
I actually thought about the 3rd image being inside/on top of the White Moon, but what threw me off was that thing in the bottom-right corner. It looks out of place in relation to something the size of Nerv HQ. It makes the whole "pool" look weirdly small. Or is it just that far in the foreground?
Image
Doesn't this look like a tiled floor with a thing screwed on top?

Bottom right corner looks like it's a ledge overlooking the scene.

The tiling brings to mind the distinct plates that are visible in the Geofront ceiling. We never see those from the other side, do we...? The perfectly round aperture that's left on top of the Black Moon after the city has been blown completely away makes it seem like there's a portal built into the top; and the construction of Tokyo-3 simply took advantage of this preexisting feature, same as it used the excavated area at the very top of the Moon. So could we be seeing here what the original seal on one of the Moon's portals looked like? Fascinating stuff!

Honestly, that part of the image reminded me of sidewalk and fire hydrant..But there's no way that could be correct lol

But now I can't unsee the ship mooring thing..

Oh crap! That actually makes a lot of sense...You're talking about the open atrium thing where the lake topside was once the city was destroyed when Unit 00 went boom in episode 23...Interesting. Although, I thought that part was man made..It's confusing because I was always Nerv HQ was directly on the surface of the Black Moon. Or is it more like the geofront is part of the dome thing as well within the Black Moon? I mean that makes sense since Gendo says something about that the enormous cavern already being there...So I guess what we then of the Geofront/Nerv HQ is the open space inside of the moon or at least a part of it...

I think I may of accidentally confused myself lol

The Geofront/Nerv HQ is the open space inside of the moon or at least a part of it...

This is the best visualization I know of: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/evangelion-geofront-1fb54331408147c3b9fb502b6c883cb0

Whoa! That is awesome! :D

Hmm..So, I suppose then the "hole" we seen in the grainy image would be the cap thing here for this model...So that means this could be the top of the White Moon...

Only that we have no real way of knowing if the hole or the cap have always been there, or if it's just entirely man-made. I mean they do talk about having 22 layers of armor plates in there, so I doubt the whole lid is an original feature.

Hmm..So that could mean that the hole is where the Seed enters and exits from. Maybe they use their AT field to keep it sealed during their venture through space...

And looking at that model I do wonder, how do the Evas "launch" from HQ up to the cityscape? It seems like it would be impossible for it to be a straight shot..

There's some good discussion about the Eva launch routes here: https://wiki.evageeks.org/FGC:Supplemental_(Elevators_and_Eva_Lifts)

Damn it just occurred to me looking at this image:

Image

That the Geofront is almost like a giant eyeball. The excavated area is like the iris and the hole at the top where the city sits is the pupil.
