They were waiting for Robert Mueller to be freed up from completing his report. Old Bobby Three Sticks is secretly a huge otaku.

I mean, seriously, that's the ONLY reason both these things could happen on the same day.

Honestly, the only reason I'm hyped for this is if there's a new dub. I've seen the show enough that I really don't care too much otherwise, but having a new angle to watch it from would be cool. EOE in particular desperately needs a new English treatment, so I hope Netflix doesn't blow it.

The chat is crazy right now lol.
The Netflix staff was doing trivia and interacting. Now it's too many people for any structure. :P

Edit: June 21 lol

The "some time from March 20 to June 21, 2019" spring range was taken to its logical conclusion, with June 21st being the date. See the second post in this very thread.

I will RAGE if the delay had anything to do with pandering towards bringing the ADV cast back.

EDIT: Spoke too soon!

At AnimeJapan.

I don't understand why those actors are so angry.
I do to some extent if they loved those roles. But if Netflix is doing a redub, I think it's clear they want it to be a new take.

I'm reading that twitter chain and she is kinda implying the new dub will be bad. I think that might be a little too much.

(Sorry for that double post, didn't mean it. I should be sleeping)

This whole thing is ridiculous. It's understandable that they think they own those roles and performances....but they really don't. I mean, Dragonball has been dubbed three times with cast switch-ups each time and Nadia was dubbed twice. This sort of thing isn't new.

Tbh, AWL's performance is probably the best of the original dub performances. Her and Allison Keith are good, but I cannot stand Spencer and Grant's voices for those characters.

And how is anyone supposed to know the quality of a new dub that isn't even out yet? Let's wait until it comes out and then make our assessments on how it improved on the original dub or not.

I realize the majority of this thread is dancing on the grave of the ADV dub, but one look at Amanda’s Twitter replies tells a different public opinion. Won’t be shocked if Netflix sees backlash after they formally announce the new cast.

I'd like to bring up this tweet from her back in December:

This all just seems like it's going to get more uncomfortable.

Man, this breaks my heart. Tiffany is so invested in her role as Asuka and so devoted to the character - not to mention her performance was fantastic 100% of the way, unlike the more uneven other English VAs. Seeing her denied this possibility because of Netflix's higienizing BS is terrible. I just hope they don't fuck it up too bad.

I'm honestly more concerned about the Latin Spanish dub... Will they do it just right like the first one? A mix of old and new like the Rebuild dub? Or do something we will not dare speak about like the 2nd dub and Q!?

Time will tell... Until then, no need to fuzz about this until the end of Spring (unless they announce VA's beforehand)

(Also, Summer solstice this year is June 21st, so... Technically still Spring)

Also, what is AWL complaining about? She was not cast for Rei in Rebuild...

None of the originals got cast. Apparently according to Amanda, they weren't even considered. Tiffany doesn't know, but she wanted the old dub streamed... I don't know, something doesn't feel right here...

Her fans are the most likely people to follow her and say stuff. This might be hard to believe, but some people who don't like certain things (like, say, any iteration of dubbed Evangelion) don't look for every possible opportunity on the Internet to scream about it. We have better things to do, like spending time with what we actually enjoy.

Quite right! Would have liked the og dub members back, but at the same time hope that whoever gets the roles if they go for a re-dub have the best performances possible.
