The teaser got taken down, that's a mirror.

I've long held the belief that Evangelion Final was either going to the be shortest or the longest of the Rebuilds with no middle ground being an option. That the final movie would either double down so completely on the story being about Shinji only that the final movie would be just his for 80 minutes OR the final movie would be about Shinji & the rest of the world.

Getting Toho & Toei to collaborate on a film for the first time directs me towards this being the longest, biggest and most substantial of the Rebuilds by a large margin!

(Let the theorizing begin)

I just watched D&R and EoE yesterday to celebrate EoEs 21st anniversary.

And like every friday, I was looking for news about Eva again. I expected nothing.

And now it's official that 2 Years from now on, FINAL 'll be released.

And that's being announced with a teaser showing Mari, The Force of Nature, fighting out on the red sea in Unit 8 weilding LMGs in akimbo showing traces of the damage taken in 3.0 and being provisionally repaired.

I'm not happy about it. I feel rather angry, pissed off and scared, because of what happened in 3.0 and being tormented for years since I got into Eva, with sick thoughts about to what that leads to in FINAL.

I hesitated at first to watch the teaser and now that I watched it, my fears have been only confirmed.

I don't give a damn for a better ending in Rebuild, it doesn't deserve one.

It only deserves to end with consequences being taken and facing the worst.

It 'll be the worst and fateful day for mankind when Rebuild ends.

I'm sick of this!!!  SPOILER: Show

FINAL is more like DOOM 2016 or like Death Stranding, for taking it's time to be properly made, despite some matters had interfered, but also being certain to be released.

Only yesterday (as a joke!) I predicted it would be eight hours.

The teaser shows nothing of consequence, so what fears are those?

+ 2020 is when Hayao Miyazaki is aiming to release his (this time it has to be) Final feature film.

I have to agree with you there. While I have no proof to back this up, I always had the feeling that Anno would go for a longer movie, and that he woud try to match or exceed Final Yamato in length.

For some reason I have also expected this film to be the longest one.

After processing all of this I'm hyped. Just a little sad still that the wait goes on.
16 when I watched 3.0, probably 24 when I watch 3.0+1.0 (unless it comes out really early 2020).
Wow. :0

Something similar happened in 97.
End of Eva and Princess Mononoke.
That was also Miyazaki's "last film".

I can see the video at the link I posted.

EDIT:

I guess this was for the Sun and its lens flare in the teaser

The NGE and NTE trailers on Youtube are also up here, for reference. Start watching from the bottom and work your way up, it's worth it: http://evangelion.co.jp/movie.html

About the Shin Eva camrip teaser, Twitter has our back:

Reading the information page certainly got me emotional. Assuming this is Anno's last hurrah for Eva, bring it :D I think this will be a wonderful farewell and final product, especially with all backing Khara's getting from Toho and Toei.

These days, anime is apparently released much quicker in the West after Japanese releases, so hopefully Shin Eva would be out in 2 to 4 months instead of half a year+ of waiting

I dont like the direction in the trailer. style over substance. probably wont be in the final cut...nice teaser tho.

Also isn't this thread a tad bit redundant with the already existing shin-eva social media topic?

Pretty much ALL info on the movie will come from the older topic anyways and will just be restated here. so whats the point?

I think what he was going for is that the film is actually being made ranter than not at all. hl3 will not be made :sniffle:

That's meant to be strictly for news announcements. Ideally, this thread is for actual discussion, to help avoid clutter.

2 more years to go huh? Well at least now we know for sure. Recent changes to the anime scene here in the west makes me hopeful for a quick release, now that sumildubs are a thing and with major anime movies being brought over faster than before. If Funimation can release the new DBS movie fully dubbed one month after its Japanese release, (granted Eva is nowhere near as popular as Dragon Ball in the west) i think the prospects are good for a quick release given it'll be a major anime film.
