Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

So, the evil female admin at the Sailor Moon forum gets angry when people name drop her or when they don't even say her name she deletes their posts just cause she's a butthurt bitch who gets easily offended. She deleted two of my posts yesterday. One where I name dropped her and one where I didn't name drop her. I personally think she's fucking paranoid about people talking about her behind her back. Also, she won't let anyone say anything negative about Sailor Moon Crystal cause she considers it Crystal bashing, so basically you can't bitch about your frustrations with Crystal without her bitching at you. -_- If I had my way and was in charge of the forum I'd remove her admin/founder status and permaban this crazy cunt who's almost 40 who has nothing better to do and gets a sick satisfaction by cyberbullying people and abusing her position of power. The site has pretty become a dictatorship cause we can't even post threads in the announcements subforum to complain about her. -_-

Why not just find another forum? There must be others for such a well-known franchise. The frequency with which you complain makes you seem like a glutton for punishment.

The only other big Sailor Moon forum which is called the Galaxy Cauldron has really strict rules like only mods can have Sailor Senshi/character names and you have to ask permission to change your avatar. I've stopped posting at Sailor Moon Forum cause I can't access the site on my 3DS web broswer and I'm not happy about this evil admin being back either. -_-

@Princess Asuka: this thread isn't a dumping ground for grievances concerning other sites. I understand your frustration, but that sort of drama should stay away from here; what happens elsewhere should stay elsewhere. Note that the thread OP is about general Internet toxicity and culture, not the wrongdoings of specific groups or places.

Hope I'm not too late to the party. Been finding social media a real pain in the arse. I ended up removing fb from my phone, only keeping the chat. I feel the pain you feel. My news feed needs to come with a trigger warning. At times I want to jump ship but just don't know what. The hardest part is actually wanting to call and talk to someone. I'm either confronted with a robot or the person preferring to text. Most of the Discord servers feel toxic and a lot of the groups I ran into seem to be young adults that are acting as if the world owe's them. *Head desk*

No your not to late at all and I can relate as I think the social side or social media sucks I think the hardest thing is separating yourself from it as you have to be very self aware of any drama going on and ignore it or step away. I was also talking about this with some one some time back that I think that some of the nasty part of online comes from the fact that a lot of people forget there is a human being behind every avatar who can be hurt by careless words and to others who troll and flame it becomes about getting a rise out of you. I think your doing the right thing though separating yourself from FB and the website bothering you as I had to that with tumblr and I have zero regrets.
Anywhere can be paradise as long as you have the will to live. After all, you are alive, so you will always have the chance to be happy.

No, you're not the one that's late. Everyone who was shocked that data was being skimmed from Facebook was late to the party.

Anyway, to actually respond, I've been off social media for a while, probably since late 2014 early 2015. After graduating college, there wasn't a need to scroll through feeds seeing people post what started to become nonsensical things. Facebook wasn't starting to just be more about people sending game requests, and no one really engaging with each other unless it was to garner attention. Twitter was just a bunch of people bitching at each other in 140 characters or less, and Tumblr was becoming a mess of man-hating posts, so it was time to leave. Overall, social media is more of a place for people to complain about things and be offended by everything around them rather than having meaningful conservation about anything. Since then things certainly haven't improved, if anything they've gotten worse, which just back ups my own decision to leave. At least here is a good place to come, the conversation's good, and the people are friendly.

Part of the reason I stick my head in once every few months.

Yeah I never jumped on tumbler or a lot of other sites. I have twitter purely for my writing projects so I don't see any of the toxic crap.

Lol the people who were late to the party believing their data wasn't been skimmed. Sounds like the same group of people who believe you cant get a virus on an I-phone XD

Ever since I reduced the few social media that I have to nothing but an online save file backup, a source of memes/historical photographs and a way of staying in contact with people I know irl but dont have their phone number to me, the amount of toxicity I am dealing with on a day-to-day basis has greatly reduced

I am a little too dedicated to my Facebook page for my own good. Nearly hundreds of times I have tried to delete my account but all it does is give me the same BS 14 day waiting period until it finally shuts the page forever by which I will have found some excuse to put the page back on. It drives me so crazy particularly because I mostly use social media to keep up to date on Puerto Rico Comic Con because the official website usually is so slow in providing the newest on celebrities.

It's a hassle and one that drains my energy and time, for sure.

Have they changed that now? Last time I attempted to do it they required me to send them a letter requesting my account to be closed.

Every time I tried to delete my account, it always had the 14 day wait obligatory in case I were to change my mind. Not once did I have to send Facebook a letter requesting them to close it for me.

^ Still, its a great way to drag people back on, giving them plenty of time to "regret" their decision to leave. I also have the same issue, so I leave it alone and mark all the Facebook e-mail as spam and I just ignore it like the redheaded step child you leave in the attic.

It's never too late for the "my two cents!" party!

About the deleting accounts: I read an article semi-recently about somebody who thought they deleted their Facebook, only for that information to still be retained years after the fact when they rejoined... :cringe: (Again, not surprising, considering the nature of how social media sites work, but urgh.)

My Twitter and Facebook accounts are to maintain contact with people that matter, but limiting the time I'm on either definitely helps with how "not fun" they feel these days. Honestly, too much of anything isn't healthy (I definitely fell into the "social media addiction" trap at one point!), anyway, and there's plenty of RL stuff to keep me busy as is.

Can forum admins legally censor your posts for stuff like swearing? I personally think that censoring people is wrong and a violation of freedom of speech. A forum that I'm no longer participating in censors users' posts for swearing and I personally don't think it's right.

please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, my understanding was when you sign up, you sign up within and agree within the rules of the site. If that has a clause about what you can and cant say then they are able too. You have to remember that not everywhere has the same rules, such as freedom of speech. Depends on what part of the world you are from. A lot of these forums are kid friendly and a lot of the words that can be said to vent frustration could be worded better or simply taken to a personal message. Unless their just Trolling.

The last consideration is a Countries culture. I will use three words as an example. Bitch, S**t and F**k. (I forgot what the rules are here, its been a stupid amount of time so forgive me if that's aloud or not.) For arguments sake I will call them words 1, 2 and 3.
To my understanding all 3 are classed as curse words in the U.S and not permitted to be said on TV, Radio ect... I am probably totally wrong but that's the perception.
Over here in Australia words 1 and 2 are free to be used almost all the time on major networks and word 3 is normally on talk shows after 8:30pm on all major networks. On radio only 2 words are censored, word 3 and the C bomb but their are times these words slip through.

Depends where your from.

Hi SSD, good to hear from you.

I am generally against censorship of thought. But often swearing is nothing to do with thought, and I am happy to censor it if it breaks the stated rules. In particular, I require civility in a forum - and if it happens to be the proponents of a particular point of view who uniformly fail to meet that requirement, then that's their loss, because by getting themselves banned they are denying themselves the platform to put it over.

A lot of people seem to think that chanting "freedom of speech" means they can say what the hell they want wherever they want, without consequences; however, that is not what is guaranteed in the American constitution (which, of course, is of no direct concern to many of us in any case), let alone anywhere else.

Yeah, I totally forgot about that side of things with regards to FoS. Yeah, I am not the biggest fan of that type of censorship and its worse when you get an SJW stepping in. Theres out of line and an opinion of what someone would think of and then someone getting triggered especially when they are in a position of power on a site. I didn't see much of the thing that happened with FB too long ago, apart from the memes but I think a valid point was raised. Adults need to be adults and have adult conversations. :emogendo:

In the US, the First Amendment only prohibits the government from censoring speech. Companies and private individuals (such as the site owner and their enforcers) can censor whatever they want. Personally, I'm fine with swearing unless it is directed at another forumer/user with the intent of offending or otherwise degrading them (such as in an argument between forumers), or it includes racial slurs. There's no valid excuse for using racial slurs outside of an academic or historical context.
