A radical vision for the future

Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

Taking population reduction seriously:

The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement

Rather the opposite of Instrumentality, it seems to me.
"Being human, having your health; that's what's important." (from: Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi )
"As long as we're all living, and as long as we're all having fun, that should do it, right?" (from: The Eccentric Family )

Well... Instrumentality is the melding of all human minds into one super-consciousness, yes? Or, something of that nature, anyway.

The fewer humans on Earth, the greater the unity of humanity, simply because there are fewer humans. ^_^

In all seriousness... huh. Interesting stuff. To tell you the truth, I was actually a bit worried it would go the way of 'forcible reduction', but I'm glad to see it's not the case. Not really something I'd particularly advocate... If you really were interested in insuring humanity's survival against destruction of Earth's climate, wouldn't it be better to focus efforts on technological development, in order to deal with the issues on Earth and/or provide for colonisation of the Moon/Mars (I realize colonisation is something that won't be achievable in the near future, but I think we'd have at least a few decades left on Earth before things become too inhospitable)?

We've already rendered it impossible for a new species starting from scratch to have an industrial society, so we've got to treat ourselves as the one chance for terrestrial life to escape the Earth's gravity well.

I first stumbled over that site, it must be 20+ years ago. I'm surprised they're still around after all this time -- have they never head of leading by example?

So this is still around? Haven't heard about this in at least a decade.
