It's true that it wouldn't be as shocking as the first time.
I don't think the shock is the only thing that worked about it though. It is thematically relevant. That was so cool about it, it seemed to come out of the blue but made sense.
It also depends on what they show. Doing live-action is one thing, recording Anno or studio khara would be a new level of meta~destruction of the fiction.
