I knew about that doujin because of the interview, had never seen it though.
That's Evangelion-History right there.
Shinji: "Sooner or later I'll be betrayed... And they'll leave me. Still... I want to meet them again, because I believe my feelings at that time were real."
Ryuko: "I'm gonna knock ya on your asses!"
-Asuka: THINK IN GERMAN!!! -Shinji: Öh... Baumkuchen...
Hayashida: "As game developers, our work is special. All of us here can put smiles on very many people's faces with our work."
"In any case, it (Kill la Kill) is the greatest work of fiction ever written and should be taught in schools." -Squigsquasher

Looking at this, it becomes apparent that Anno pretty much directly lifted certain cuts from this doujin and used them in 22'. I love the doujin imagery that has Asuka routinely coming up against AT-field barriers against other people, particularly that of the dividing wall between her and Shinji from episode 9.

I loved the detail with the AT fields and its interesting how in Manga Asuka does not cry when Kaji rejects her advances where as here she does. This also confirms what I thought the Jerico comment was really about as there's an old bible song kids used to sing in school called Battle of Jericho and one line in it is this

"God knows that Joshua fit the battle of Jericho. Jericho Jericho. Joshua fit the battle of Jericho. And the walls come tumbling down"

Its also worth noting that its the Ark Of The Covenant that destroyed the wall in one massive blast so Asuka knew the wall fell she knows it not implementable and the line is a clear invitation where she wants Shinji to read between the lines hence when he doesn't she comes to him.

Honestly, that's new to me, that of all things a Eva Doujin being made post NGE/pre EoE is the source material for the extended scenes in Episode 22, but even without it, Anno and Gainax had to come up with something to make Asukas behavior in EoE more apparent.
I carry out things right to the end. No. Matter. What.
