Hideaki Anno talks on the phone (Love & Pop extra)

I was in the mood for looking up things about Hideaki Anno on YouTube, and I stumbled across this. A bonus feature from Love & Pop in which Anno talks to (presumably, going by the content) sex callers for about ten minutes.

I don't know if I've ever mentioned it before, but Hideaki Anno is one of the most fascinating creators I've ever known. Not just for his creative work, but to simply see him act, talk to other people about anything, and whatnot - I find it really riveting. He occasionally reminds me of Shinji when he talks about himself or when talking to someone else, but I also see a bit of myself in him. I don't know why, and I'm not sure if I could explain it very well, but I really find myself relating to Anno in videos that just show him simply being.

It's a video that I honestly adore, and I wanted to share it with everyone here. I hope you enjoy it.

Given that this relates to Love & Pop, I think it's misleading to say he's talking to prostitutes. Enjo kosai is not the same thing as prostitution.

I have the suspicion that the video uploader either wasn't aware of that, or simply thought that the video name "Hideaki Anno talks on the phone to prostitutes" was more amusingly mundane than anything else. Admittedly, I don't have any context beyond what's in the video itself, so the uploader might be right for all I know (it would be a bit odd, given the relation or lack thereof to Love & Pop, but stranger DVD extras have happened).

This video is an amazing gold nugget. I was not aware this existed - and then it's even subtitled! It tells its own cute little story, and while doing so confirms how I thought Anno might have thought about EoE. This is one of the rare occasions he talks about it after all.
Anyways, thanks for sharing!

Given its context with Love & Pop, I would think that Anno's exploring telephone clubs. I'll have to watch it when I get home today.

Also, I stumbled upon this video while perusing the Bluray extras, but didnt have the subtitles for it. This should be a treat.

Brilliant. This whole video was pretty great, especially the part where he has to avoid giving away his identity while discussing Eva. Thanks for sharing this.

I find it especially fascinating, through, when he says this:
Anno wrote:I've only had one experience at work where I was just glad that I did what I could,
What I was working on, when it finally matched my original vision...
I was just really happy that I worked on it in the first place.
After all when you do something once and you think you need to do it over again, and then your thoughts start to get all sloppy. That's just too strict a way of thinking. Rather than fixing it, doing it again is like... for a short time, you just become frazzled.
Well, right now I really think that what I did was enough.

What do you think he's talking about here? Could it be EoTV ("original vision") vs. EoE ("do it over again")? And if so, what is he trying to say about EoE?
Or am I just looking way too far into something not worth the effort?
