Hello everybody,
We notice this trend among the forums, primarily within the film subforum, of users updating threads with each and every single bit of news regarding a thing, and often times without providing any additional commentary whatsoever. Here are a couple recent examples:
post/857562/Godzilla-and-Kaiju-General/#857562
post/857559/Superhero-Films-and-TV/#857559
I would just like to take this time to remind everybody about the rules regarding the active contribution to threads. In short, we don't need to know about each and every little news update in the film world. Remember, this is a forum, not a news aggregator; let's have a discussion! Please just bring up the news YOU feel is worth talking about, and then talk about it. Films and trailers are being announced every day, and same for actors/directors being attached to films. Instead of just dropping links regarding these things, tell us about it: what is it, why do you care, and why should we care? Otherwise, these isolated posts tend to be ignored and they clutter the place up. That's all. Thank you.

Re: Sharing News and Actively Contributing to Threads
Thank you. The Film & Video thread is starting to look just like the rest of the internet with these dropped links without anymore commentary than the dropped link. I honestly don't care who was casted in what most of the time. Nobody does, and nobody will unless the person posting the update gives reasons as to why s/he thinks that the casting is interesting and worth telling other people. Obviously, it stalls discussion when people don't discuss things.
