Wes Anderson wants to do sci-fi. And he's interested in Evangelion.

Wes Anderson has secretly started making a new animated movie...and no-one knows what it's about.

IS THIS IT? (I mean, I know it's not...) But what if it's Eva-y, you know?

The first article was written way back in 2009. Wes Anderson has directed two feature-length films since then, neither of them were science-fiction nor were they photographed in space.

The second articles says that it's going to be be a movie about a dog. I don't see how that can inherently lead to a sci-fi space romp, so I doubt this is anything significantly Evangelion-related outside of maybe the narrative work addressing the same themes.

Considering that he's actually a fan of Eva, it be weird to see him take it on. I love a lot of his movies, but a indie filmmaker who's sets come out of a lavish dollhouse is the last person I'd expect (Though it would be a great Youtube Parody)

So there's And yet no End of Andersongelion: You Can (NOT) Display Exquisite Penmanship.

Some people have too much time on their hands...and some people not enough.

S.U.B.: If I make it as a director, I can hopefully promise to you that I will attempt to bring Anderson's vision of Evangelion as a short film. It may sound pretentious, but hey, this is an indie filmmaker taking on one of the most philisophical anime that's ever existed.

Wes Anderson's new film is a stop motion feature about dogs inspired by the works of Yasujiro Ozu... through Wes Anderson's own sensibilities of course.

It will be amazing I'm sure.

I could get behind an expanded universe sort of deal, say the eccentric science-hipsters of MIT who built unit 3 amidst existential woes and dramatic interpersonal happenstance. Bill Murray has to voice the base commander, obviously.

Inorite? It's like the only part of Evangelion Wessie likes is that movie where all the explosions are just metaphors for existential crisis. He probably doesn't even like giant robots!

I was hoping Disney would do it so I could hear Shinji sing.

New project described as 'a Japanese movie'

...I think he's toying with me now.
