Episode 3, at around 02:57, when Shinji's doing the firing test thing, there's an ambient noise in the background. It's present in several other scenes throughout the series and it sounds really immersive. I'm a sucker for good ambient background :P
I don't suppose there's any feasible way to get it somewhere, right?

I'm not sure if the isolated sound effect exists outside if whatever SFX library GAINAX and other studios had at their disposal at the time, and I'm not sure which libraries those would be.

I wouldn't think the sound takes so long to loop that it would be a problem to just grab it during a quiet section of one of the scenes where it appears. It's just white noise, after all.
