New Evangelion album: OutTakes from "Evangelion"

I was browsing the internet a while ago, and I somehow stumbled upon a forum discussing this page on HMV Japan:

http://www.hmv.co.jp/artist_%E9%B7%BA%E ... on_6882838

If this page is correct (and I think it is, since looking up its tag of KICA-3262 brings me to pages of the same album), a new Evangelion album containing outtakes from the show's soundtrack (which I imagine must be unused songs or variations, similar to the S2 Works release back in 1998) is going to come out on the 30th of June. It might be based on the Rebuild of Evangelion movies, since the title only has the Evangelion name used in the official release, so we could very well hear a few new songs originally intended for the three movies.

Discuss the album, and anything interesting that comes out of it here.

UPDATE: Since nothing appeared on websites such as Amazon and the like, I've re-checked those sites and discovered that the release date was a misprint. It's actually the 30th of June it looks to be coming out on, not the 30th of March. Massive apologies for the misinformation. Carry on.

Interesting! I'm not seeing it anywhere else but I'll definitely have to look into buying it when it comes up on CDJapan or elsewhere.

NEW UPDATE ON THE ALBUM: On Shiro's official website, Ro-Jam, it was confirmed that the OutTakes album will be released on the 29th of July, the same day his soundtrack to Anno's Godzilla comes out. Some extra information was also given out on Yahoo! Japan, which is as follows: (in Japanese, anyway)

SPOILER: Show

THE END OF EVANGELION Air/まごころを、君に』に使われ大ヒットとなった楽曲「THANATOS-IF I CAN'T BE YOURS-」のリミックスとして2006年に発売された「THANATOS-IF I CAN'T BE YOURS-“Nine Years After Mix”」の別テイク

For anyway who can't read it, here's a translation based on the Google Translate:

"The latest Evangelion album by Shiro Sagisu 'OutTakes from Evangelion' is due to be released on the 29th of July!

This album, packed with a large number of unused, never-before-released songs, make for a definitive collection of new Evangelion songs!

Furthermore, songs produced for the recent 'Japan Animator Expo' shorts will also be included!

In addition, the soundtrack to Hideaki Anno's 'Godzilla Resurgence' will be released the same day! This cannot be overlooked!

(A list of songs stated to appear in the album follow, but I can't make heads or tails of the translation, since it discusses their origin more than what they actually are. The content, from what I can decipher, will include piano songs written for the Rebuilds, Animator Expo songs by Sagisu, among others. The final album will contain 20 songs; one of which will hopefully be the orchestral version of Danny Boy in until You come to me.)"

I recognized some of the listed numbers as being part of the S2 Works album (basically every song Sagisu every composed for the original series and films, including alternate takes and unused songs), so I had a look at the tracklist and have gotten some ideas.

Track 1. M11 is the unused EoE song Everything You've Ever Dreamed, so this is likely going to take the original vocals for that song and put new music to it (similar to the piano version that appeared in the PianoForté album).

Tracks 2 and 3. M3 is for The Passage of Emptiness, the song that plays at the end of the MP-Eva fight in the EoE. Considering that the next track contains the word emptiness in it, I can only assume that the song will be covered differently per track. (The Jazz Night album did this as well)

Track 4. London-Derry seems a bit odd, but then I remembered the credits of until You come to me, which listed its song Danny Boy as being from County Derry. So it must be the beautiful orchestral version of Danny Boy that played for most of that short.

Track 5. M5 is an unused, untitled song intended for EoE at some point. A grim orchestral piece some have compared to Mozart's Lacrimosa.

Track 18. A4 is the codename for Borderline Case, from the original series. (That's why the codename appeared in the name of Quelconque 56 avec A4; it means something along the lines of Piano Song 56 WITH A4.)

I don't recognize the rest from anywhere, so that's all I've got to offer on the subject until the album comes out. Come on, July 29th!

That tune is known as The Londonderry Air, and first appeared in a book of traditional Irish airs in 1855; there is no other source, however, and the origin cited in the book is problematic. It appears that the tune as we know it is greatly corrupted from a more characteristic original.

Various lyrics have been set to it. The words "Danny Boy" were written in 1910 and set to the tune in 1913; they have become the commonest lyrics.
