And yet Link was a Hero supported by his friends. Also his action that led to Ganondorf taking over, where seen as necesary, so that Master Sword could be used. Shinji is unwanted element that should stay under key.
Quite the difference.

Those events weren't seen as necessary until the story was completed. It's always easy to talk about the virtue of things with 20/20 hindsight, but it doesn't make the observation particularly insightful.
Though, Gob still might look good in a cocktail dress.

We have to remember what's important in life: friends, waffles, and work. Or waffles, friends, and work. But work has to come in third.

Come read EVA Sessions! This place has it, too! There'll be pizza! Not really! There are other things, too! Not EVA Sessions! Did I mention the pizza!?

TL;DR: I learned that, apparently, Evangelion can be explained solely in terms of Legend of Zelda games. The Grand Unified Theory has been found, we can all go home and fanwank over lesser franchises.

Re: You know what Q reminds me of?
it reminds me of metal gear solid 2 more than anything.
it subverted fan expectations in a very manipulative way and makes statements about the viewer.
Shinji finally gets in the f*cking robot and saves Rei? nope, nevermind.
Shinji and Asuka are making progress with their relationship? no.
Asuka is making progress as a person? nope.
gendo is showing signs of actually acting like a father for once? nope.
everything built up that you care about in 2 is essentially gone. the Shinji that everyone who hates eva always wanted is gone and almost everyone but Rei and Kaworu hate his guts. hell, the movie ends with him wanting to do nothing and hating himself like at the start of EoE. a complete 180 to the end of the movie that came before it.

^ The way Anno had intended it to be no less.
Speaking of which, I've never even played a Legend of Zelda game, wonder what I must be missing that someone could draw a link between that and Evangelion.

in my opinion, probably not a lot. i've played most of the zelda games and the only parallel i can draw between rebuild ocarina is the time jump.

Q reminds me of a piece of shit fan-fiction that serves no purpose in furthering character or story, and is ultimately pointless.

But it's also Wind Waker at the same time though because instead of going back and fixing your mistake the message is "let go of the past and seek new territory"
There's even the elegiac scene where someone In the Know shows MC the ruins of the old world and is all like, "Yeah but that's gone now and there's nothing you can do about it lol"

Q
Q reminds me of Alien 3. Like Q, this was the start of that franchise where the films began to become more divisive among fans. Like Q, it obliterated all of the optimistic elements that been set up in the previous film pretty much before the movie even starts. Like Q, the story unfolds on a dark and cold world where pretty much everyone treats Ripley with utter disdain. Like Q, all hope seems to be lost as the film progresses. Like Q, a shadowy group operating behind the scenes (Weyland-Yutani) is trying to get the protagonist to bend towards their will. Like Alien 3, a "queen alien" (Lilith) of sorts is destroyed in Q. Like Q, the last of an alien race is destroyed with on the basis of someone's sacrifice (Ripley and Kaworu). Like Q, there is a great deal of stillness compared to the more action-oriented nature of the previous film. In these moments of contemplation, the protagonist is able to see the extent of the devastation that occurred while they were sleeping and is made to face even more shocking revelations. Like Shinji Q, Ripley is told several times to stay put but does not. Like Q, Ripley gets rather close to one character who is sympathetic but then is forced to watch them die horrifically. Like Q, Alien 3 has elements of existentialism vs. nihilism. Like Alien 3, Q has become this kind of love or hate "masterpiece." Like Alien 3, Q has an amazing director who is plagued with production problems. Like Ripley in Alien 3, Shinji has his "badassery" stripped from him.
In a nutshell, Q is the Alien 3 of the franchise and I love it all the more because of it! The devastation, the disorientation, the mental and emotional break down, it is what has always made Evangelion so powerful and intense to watch.
As for the Zelda comparison, there is Link and the "5 girls" Saria (Rei), Zelda/Shiek (Asuka), Impa (Misato), Malon (Sakura), and the Zora Princess (Mari). The three goddesses could be Units 0,1,2 I suppose. But then again, these parallels are more linked to NGE rather than Q...I suppose Ganondorf could be Gendo and Lilith could be Twinrova...But that's a slippery slope...Fiyutski could be the Song of Storms guy. Ritusko could be Navi. I'm having some difficulty finding an analogus character to Kaworu though...maybe the Deku kid?

Never played Ocarina of Time. May i ask why? Can you make any comparison between these two works to support this statement?

An aggressive opinion on the SAME movie but one he's completely entitled to have. And given how Q was, one that is perfectly understandable to have regardless if one agrees with it or not.
Please just call me Ian, "TheFrisky" is more of a title.

You are right in that it's understandable, but we must also acknowledged that it's also incorrect

Re: You know what Q reminds me of?
A subjective view is incorrect? There is no right/wrong with opinions, if he believes that Q was bad (and no, Q was NOT a flawless masterpiece) then that's all the validation he needs. You can sit there and talk ad nauseum about every little detail in the movie and how it was always supposed to be that way, but we've had that discussion a million times before and people's opinions on the movie aren't as wish washy as mine. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean it's wrong. This isn't a Pro-Q hivemind.
