Spike Spiegel, hands down.

Though a couple of Yamadera Koichi's other roles are major contenders.

Dirty Harry.
In my case, I refuse to go easy on the ignorant, regardless of degree. Hitler was ignorant. Joshua C. Whatshisface is ignorant. To me, they're in the same category of ignorant and stupid people who should have been left in some isolated corner of the world where they couldn't bother anyone. --The Eva Monkey

Depends on any given moment, Atm (aside from Anno) Washu.

Earlier today it was Matthew Barney, and at least once yesterday, I think, it was Sam Raimii.

I've heard two mentions of people from my home state ^_^ Bruce Campbell lives relatively close to me. Can anyone guess the other?

Movie Hero? Are we talking about real people? If so, that's hard to say... I'd have to sit down for quite some time and figure that out because there's a number of people I have some level of respect for that have been in movies for more than just the movies that they did.

If we're talking about characters? I dunno, Ferris Bueller would be up there, manipulative mastermind he was... Hacker too. Batman would be up there and uhm... Forrest Gump >.> Pretty much, the main characters of my favorite movies would all be on that list since, well... I like the movies because of the characters and story line.

...Shut up! Don't ask me!

Number 6 (The Prisoner).

By typecasting, therefore, Patrick McGoohan.

Also, Tom Baker.

There are no heroes in this world, only people.

That is to say, I -- like Hex -- probably don't have any, either. No real ones.

Definitionally, I agree with you, but I'm willing to relax the idea of "hero" a bit for a thread like this.

Not to mention that considering a "hero" to be flawless might be more in line with "idol."

A hero is someone who either gets up and does what nobody else wants to do, no matter how much (s)he may not actually enjoy it and no matter how certain it is that (s)he will never be able to go back to a normal life afterwards, or someone who is thrust into the lead position completely in ignorance of his / her actual wishes and interests.

Or, as someone once put it, becoming a hero generally equals a loss of freedom on a large scale.

Oh, well, in that case, I might as well go for the easy option.

My hero is...

Yui-samaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

(EDIT @ BBQ: From that perspective, Yui seems to fit to a T...)

Not to mention that considering a "hero" to be flawless might be more in line with "idol."

True, true. Plenty of ancient heroes were riddled with flaws. I'll never forget about Ajax and his armpits.

I usually preserve the term hero for real people though so that may be why.

I don't know why, but my brain wants to think that's Bart from Xenogears. Even though it obviously isn't.

Are there any real heroes out there? Were there ever any? Well... probably, but there are so many self-serving, pretentious assholes out trying to spread their shit around, and humans are such complicated creatures, it's hard to tell who is / what actions are genuinely selfless, virtuous, and/or altruistic. I'd be really hesitant to call a real person a "hero" unless I felt secure enough about vis character.
