I'm curious on what you guys here think about this anime. Personally, I loved every minute of it. The character interactions and everything in general was just so well done. It's also one of my favorite animes of all time, right up there with Evangelion. However, I hated the OVA with a burning passion. It was terrible. Anyhow, what are your thoughts on this particular anime?

Perhaps I should not have watched it when I did, in an attempt to distract myself from a cold and toothache; but I was unimpressed. I recall that the "now cry here" bits left me cold; and the art style was unfortunate in making Shuuji look like he was middle aged, rather than a teenager.

I need to watch this again, but subbed this time. The amateur hour dub was not so good. I did actully enjoy it though.

I've bought the first four Volumes, when I was searching for something akin to Eva. Didn't really click with me back then, but that's almost 10 years in the past.

Well, the drama parts were very tearjerky I agree but in a good way, especially Akemi's death scene. Man, have I never felt so dead inside, and to date, nothing else has topped that sort of raw human emotion for me. I was speechless, I honestly felt like crawling up in a ball and crying, although I never take out my emotions whenever I'm depressed or sad so I never did that. I'm more of the bottle it up and hold back the tears type.

Really? I thought the dub was pretty good. All the voices matched the characters and were pitch perfect.

That's a long time, but you'd probably have to watch the entire thing to fully appreciate the story and characters.

As I recall they decided to use their dubbing school for some reason instead of the usual voice actors, which turned out not to be such a great idea. Other then the main leads everyone else was pretty weak. I made it through to the end but if I ever watch this again i'm going with the subs.

Really? That's interesting, although I did watch this a few years back so maybe the voices don't hold up quite as I remember. Hmm.

Anyhow, what do you guys think about its many themes and such? Do you think it blended them together well? I think so, but you probably already guessed that would be my answer.

It's been so long since I watched this I don't really recall, but I enjoyed it so it must have done a pretty good job of it.
