The Incredible Shrinking Toonami
So, while I was watching Adult Swim last night I saw on a commercial that the Toonami anime block's runtime has been shortened from 6 hours to 3 hours. Should this be a cause for concern for us fans? Is televised anime in the United States in danger of going extinct?

Animenewsnetwork did a podcast where they interviewed the Co-Founder. Listen to it.

They relaunched it in 2012. They call it The Night No 90s Kid Slept.

This interview is great. Interested to see what will be in the works for 2015
"The will to lose one's will?"
"Absolutely. The will to make oneself completely free. Will is the wrong word, because in the end you could call it despair. Because it really comes out of an absolute feeling of it's impossible to do these things, so I might as well just do anything. And out of this anything, one sees what happens."--Francis Bacon

"NGE is like a perfectly improvised jazz piece. It builds on a standard and then plays off it from there, and its developments may occasionally recall what it's done before as a way of keeping the whole concatenated." -- Eva Yojimbo

I wasn't able to get the podcast to play. Can someone explain what the basic idea of it was, and what's happening to the channel?

The interviewee goes into the history of Toonami, the specifics of why it is difficult to get certain anime franchises, how Space Dandy came to be and why there probably won't be another situation like Space Dandy in the near future (basically, the Adult Swim people knew the people behind Space Dandy really well, so brokering a simulcast deal was an easy situation). He mentions Kill la Kill a few times as a franchise they wanted to pick up right away. He explains that the cut from 6 to 3.5 hours is what everyone wanted; basically, showing Inuyasha at 5 in the morning wasn't doing anyone any favors. Now, almost none of the shows on are reruns. Apparently, reruns don't do nearly as well as original viewings, which is why Attack on Titan isn't currently rerunning. He explains that DBZ Kai and Shippuden are like the support beams that let Toonami branch out into other franchises.
That's all I can remember off the top of my head. Also, he mentions that there are three projects coming down the pipe in 2015 that anime fans will be excited about, but he doesn't mention any by name.
