It goes on.

One would think that the porn industry should have a strict sexual harrassment policy, especially for some of the things described in that article. One of the girls claimed she doesn't do anal, but Deen forced it on her; if it were required that both parties are to give signed consent to certain activities before engaging in them, then everybody in the crew would be aware of what is and isn't okay, and they can intervene when shit like this happens. Otherwise, it's left in a moral gray area that benefits people like him doing these sorts of things to their co-stars.

"Whoah, Deen. We gotta get the proper forms first before we can stick it in that hole from that angle."

It's required but do they care?

There's basically three ways the industry portrays itself: It's a wild party in marketing materials, it's a serious business where everything is documented and taken seriously in interviews, and then every once in a while a big name star like Sahsa Grey or Stoya comes out and says they signed up to be sexual performers and got raped and no one cares and then more lesser names come out of the woodwork and complain about the industry not caring about the girls at all and being very seedy and exploitative.

Which one is real? Which one is wrestling-style kayfabe?

Also there's no way it's in a legal gray area. If somebody says no it means no even in the middle of sex, or if they say no to one act but consent to another. Those boundaries are inviolate, being a sex worker doesn't undo them.
the prophecy is true

"A Turkish court appointed five ‘Lord of the Rings’ experts to figure out whether this Gollum meme is offensive"

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/mor ... offensive/

apparently a Turkish doctor, Bilgin Çiftçi, has been put on trial for sharing a meme on the Internet that compares the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Gollum. Insulting a head of state is a crime punishable by imprisonment in Turkey, but Çiftçi's defense states that it wasn't an insult because Gollum may actually be a hero, since it was because of him that the Ring was destroyed. Now, the court has compiled a group of experts; two academics, two behavioral scientists and/or psychologists and an expert on cinema and TV, to determine if his defense is valid.

As with other things, the rules are on the books. It's just a matter of enforcing them.

Jesus fuck. This is eye-opening as to how horrible this industry's environment is.

I know -- stabbing is not nearly transgressive enough to pass for art these days. Well, maybe if one of the women had been wielding the knife with her vagina it might have been.

Speaking of stabbings, it turns out that terrorist attacks don't need to be only explosives or guns:

This is local to UK universities, but is actually causing me a great deal of grief right now:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/internet-security/12038962/Universities-across-the-country-lose-internet-connections-following-cyber-attack.html

The knock-on effects are breaking a lot of our internal services as well.

Apparently even american news wants to report on the stabbings:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bwYm_qCSFE&ab_channel=TheYoungTurks
It might have something to do with the UK police being actual police but you didn't hear me say that.

TYT is hardly typical media, and they make no pretense of objectivity. Cenk only cares about this story because it plays well with his gun and culture views.

If people want to continue to debate the issue it should go here instead.
