As has already been discovered but had yet to be officially announced in the appropriate place, a couple of changes have happened: I've become an admin, and pwhodges has taken on a special advisory role backstage.

I've already received my congratulations (in spades! Thank you everyone), and Paul his. This post is just a way to put the word out to anyone who doesn't check those threads.

Congratulations, Mr. Hodges. Since I didn't say it when it was brought up before.

Not that there is any importance to this question, but is there a reason the pink and blue don't come with a name highlight, and only effect the squares? Is it an aesthetic choice, coding requirements, or to signify a less important position?

These things I really must know.

The squares are connected to the title -- they're part of the rank. We just changed the data for Paul's custom rank to point to the image for blue squares.

I understand that sounds like an easy change, and probably should be a sufficient answer; but I'm more interested in the choice not to change the name colour along with the squares - a la the moderators and administrators.

Name colors can't be changed on a whim like ranks. It's baked in.

Just noticed the colour change and later found the thread.

With a slighty delay..... CONGRATULATIONS!

Just to note that I am in no way an overlord any more than before. I have no new powers to go with my blue squares, unless I can count the uncertain power of persuasion!

I would say the colour Red would be a better choice. Grabs the attention from the start let alone it's the color of the power.

I think we'd have to import the red squares image if we wanted to use it (blue was already around). Besides, the color isn't good for precisely the reason you stated: it grabs far too much attention and it would be pretty jarring to see.

Asides from Reichu, the only other person I can think of off the bat with red squares is Dr. Nick.

They're dark pink, actually.

Er, anyway, Wayneiac and Shin-seiki also have them, but they don't post much nowadays.

Anyway, blue is good; blue is discrete(ish); blue goes with Shinji's scarf (might I have suggested blue? who knows!).
