What do you say about golden oreo's
what do you say when you split them apart?
when you take off one of the sides,
there's one side with this white sugary stuff
and there's another side with nothing on it
unfortunately, this explains two people in this so-called tale,
of Shinji and Asuka
all this bitching and lightsaber duels aside,
these two are fire and i don't give a shit
she calls for Shinji to do something to her
Shinji responds by just doing nothing, but expecting gratification
so you see, both want that cream filling
but both are too selfish and self-absorbed
just in different ways
so the cream filling stays stuck to one side
the whole deal is one sided
especially if you're pampered like both of them are
therefore, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise
to see them hating each other
there is a tendency
for a human to hate itself whenever it sees itself
in someone else
there is also a serious issue
with that redhead's mental state of mind
her upbringing could be to blame
but then, when did she ever grow up?
pretending to is one thing
but that does far more harm than good
covering up your pain like everyone else
doesn't mean it'll go away
then again, some people will never change
and people who don't change are forced to
sometime down the road
Shinji, in this case
is different
for while his chosen submission brings him
his own self manufactured pain and despair
his mind is still quite open to the world
and can change, after some effort
certainly, his self esteem is his greatest issue
which many folks across the real world
certainly face in their computer den/lair/castle/empire
or whatever we come up with to satisfy the justification
of our absolute loneliness and low self-esteem
Kensuke is certainly like this
bang boom you're dead outside
i'm dead inside
perhaps another way of dealing with the same problem?
a common theme then
what if
Shinji was so selfish
lets say for the best tasting pair of tits
in existence
unless someone shoved them into his face
then he indirectly whined to the world
by acting repressed
until he got what he wanted
an unlikely possibility
but the suggestion itself
is quite outside the box
that is how to get the hardest answers sometimes
what if
Asuka was so selfish
she just simply took what she wanted
regardless of consequence
due to her own self perpetuated sense of righteousness
and if someone decided otherwise
she considered it her own failure
this would constitute
a certain perspective of 'must win, never lose'
this is actually
more likely than not
well then,
the first question for this relationship
is Asuka attracted to sh---
no fucking shit
moving on
the next question
is Shinji attracted to Asuka?
well, this is far more subtle than Asuka's advances
but the interest is clear
aboard the german freighter watching her change
staring at her breasts after a good swim
etc etc
but self esteem is the impassable wall
that blocks his way
fragility tends to lend itself
to that level of confidence
but this isn't his only issue, of course
perhaps the idea
of sharing your heart with another
is quite out of the question
for the son of a commander
who has thrown his broken lifeblood
into the heartless world of modern capitalism
but Shinji was not in control then
it was not his own decision
the hopelessness he feels comes from this fact
but it is still not his
Shinji must realize
that his own is still his responsibility
that the actions of one man
is not this world's opinion
of his life
there is no such thing
only if it is created in the mind
and believed afterwards
but your heart always speaks the truth
do not run from it
do not run from your own truth
Asuka must realize
that life is not about winning
or self gratifying her self due to her belief
of being the best eva pilot ever
more self control is needed
especially with her strong emotions
especially with her jealousy
but your heart always speaks the truth
do not run from it
do not run from your own truth
if you take a golden oreo
and you open it carefully enough
the white filling will be on both sides
split in half, equally
this is what they must learn
satisfying for both, harmful for none
to do this,
they must learn to open their hearts to each other
rather than expecting the worst from each other
which is clearly the case as it has been shown
if you expect the worst, and believe it to happen
it will happen
it is amazing
how i've gone on and on
about these fictional 2 dimensional characters
normally, these characters would be a source of amusement
or, more likely, a great source of sexual gratification
but their ties to reality
make me think of them as social archetypes
perhaps as a director's point of view
of the world (Japan) as it was
in 1995
i'm sure its still the same now
as there are still many fans of the series
let alone the shinjixasuka pairing
but this pair is quite intriguing
because their similarities
and their polar differences
results in quite the relational arrangement
many sides
including Asuka's masculine femininity
and Shinji's feminine masculinity
could be taken to be assumed
to be a harmonious relationship
by fans
dominant and recessive, it works, right?
sadly, its not that easy
fans have endlessly tried to figure out
how this relationship could work
or how it would work out in the end
in the end
its all opinion
there's no room to tell
if both are truly happy with each other
or not
only subtle hints amongst the greater disorder
of third impact
i think i'm done writing about
Shinji and Asuka for now
i was just inspired to write this
when i opened up a golden oreo
and saw one side filled
with the white filling
and the other side
devoid of it
and i thought to myself
how they very much correlated
with Shinji and Asuka
[Note: I don't expect people to like this at all, it's hardly art at all, more like a ramble but this is something I needed to get off of my chest for years. I wrote this in February 2009 during a time when I had lost the love of my life, lost my job and was descending into alcoholism. Due to its age, it no longer completely reflects my opinion on the pairing. Despite the now shitty narrative (IMO), I decided to finally post it as I've been completely changing as a person lately. Definitely an interesting ramble to read through, I'd say.
Shin Evangelion brought me back, five long years later.

Re: golden oreos are pretty good
Uh... Wow. I went into this with only middling expectations at best, and by the end I was like, damn, I really like this! So much of it speaks to my opinion of them.
...So when I got to the footnote at the end I was like "Oh come on, stop being your own harshest critic!" And also "So then what's changed?"

If Evangelion teaches anything, it is that art can be born from despair.
I do like it as well, despite never having tasted an golden Oreo during my entire lifetime. Please, feel encouraged to share more of your literature with us.
