Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

Shinji sees nothing happening to improve his view of the world; therefore my avatar will continue the same for the foreseeable future.

Hideaki Anno circa 1991 during production of Nadia.

Because I'm stressed, have a dismal view of the world, and feel like my country is sticking its leg precariously over the roof of a building for the forseeable future.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

While I am, as you say, "salty", my post was intended as a joke that took the built-in character-based logic of your avatar to its logical conclusion. The ill-conceived decision to mock one of the many, many "losers" in this election cycle is all on you, I'm afraid.

And that said, here's an announcement everyone should read. Time to change your avatar again, Squiggy.

A bit less of the superior attitude and condescension would be appreciated.

Nevertheless, the avatar has been changed to comply with the Prime Directive of NO FUN ALLOWED avoid potential arguments.

Another non-Shinji avatar, my third - probably just through the New Year. But there's a tenuous link (in my mind, anyway).

Meet Ardent, a character in Jeph Jacques's other web comic, Alice Grove (unlike Questionable Content, which is daily, Alice Grove is weekly - so the story goes real slow). Ardent is human, from an orbital colony; he has come down to Earth to explore the primitive society that has remained there. However, he has the ability to upgrade primitive technology to the latest whiz-bang version simply by touching it. The big bad (Pate, with his super-human sidekick Church) has captured Ardent along with his guardians (the super-humans Alice and Sedna) and his sister (Gavia), because he wants to use Ardent's ability for his nefarious purposes. In today's comic Ardent is sounding just a little like Shinji:
... he'll get what he wants, and hurt who knows how many more people, and it'll be my fault.

Image
(Yes, Ardent is blue; and he also has a tail and prefers to wear only shorts...)

I'm in a rather pessimistic mood this Christmas. So who better to represent that pessimism than the Great Dreamer himself?

Have a Merry Cthulumas everybody. May the next year will be better than this one.

Ardent was only temporary, and didn't have the appeal for me that I'd hoped.

When Shinji is stressed, he likes to relax by stargazing, as he explains to Kaworu in Q. I do, too:

Alright, I've finally changed the avatar after almost three years.

Oh, it's still Shirley...but I believe this pose is the most unsubtle way one can say "kiss my ass" that I can think of.
