Dark Souls II comes out where i live in 4 hours. In honor of Dark Souls, what are some of your favorite memories related to video games?

Crash Bandicoot 3, 3rd level, 3 years old. Not only is that a triumvirate of trinities, it's the first time i beat any level in any video game ever.

(Not me playing)

My dad and I have played every Jak and Daxter game together, with the exception of Jak X. The day we beat the final boss of Jak II was Friday the 13th. I've never been superstitious about that day, but it was interesting to note.
From Jak 3, the scene where
SPOILER: Show
Jak discovers that Damas is his father, and Damas dies before Jak can tell him.
The sheer rage i felt toward Count Veger was enough motivation to ensure we beat the game that very night.

Kingdom Hearts, killing Maleficent in her dragon form. Considering i played when i was six, that felt like a huge accomplishment.

Pokémon Crystal, looking at my save file to see that i had clocked in 100 hours. I had never had tangible proof that i played a game for that long before. Also, that's the only game i managed to complete the Pokédex in, not counting Celebi or any gen 1 exclusives.

Sonic Adventure 2 was the first time i cried at a video game. Admittedly, the game's hard to take seriously at my current age, but it still was horribly depressing at the time.

Buying Soul Calibur IV for the sole purpose of using the character creator. I quickly tracked down Soul Edge through Soul Calibur III, and Legends, because i found the character dynamics very interesting. Then, Soul Calibur V killed the franchise to the point that i doubt it can recover without a reboot.... Anyway, that's how i discovered that i enjoy fighting games.

Shin Megami Tensei II, killing the Christian God. When Christianity was the source of your depression, this is very cathartic.

Dark Souls, killing the Taurus Demon for the first time. I kept two-handing an axe and trying to hack it to death. I got mad and stopped playing for a while. When i came back, i found the ladder, and drop attacked the mofo, and then finished him off with an R2 to the crotch.
Also from Dark Souls, i went into Sen's Fortress while human, still being in that form since summoning Mildred to help against Quelaag. Then i got invaded. He attacked me while i was on a bridge with pendulums swinging above. I blocked his attack, then kicked him into a pendulum, causing him to fall off and die. That was the first time i killed an invader.
Getting Great Wolf Sif to low enough health that the poor guy started whimpering and limping towards me, falling over as he attacked. I honestly felt bad for killing him dead, even though he'd done the same to me many times already.
Killing
SPOILER: Show
Gwyn, and ushering in the Age of Dark.
At the time, i thought that that was the better of the two endings, but now i'm not sure. Either way, it was a very satisfying way to end a VERY memorable game.
/hj

I said and did some dumb and hurtful things in my time here when i was younger. If i ever hurt you, i'm sorry. If you see any of this while reading old threads, i'm learning and trying to improve. Donut redemption arc in progress.

Grey Fox during the fight with Metal Gear Rex in Metal Gear Solid is still very memorable to me.

Also, getting my PS2 when it launched is also very memorable.

In Demon's Souls: When I defeated motherfucking Flamelurker with melee.

It took 5 hours and over 50 deaths to finally kill him and that moment of the joy was something that I hadn't experienced before in video games.

Latest really memorable moment happened few days ago in Dark Souls II.

Killing the final boss of System Shock 2. I honestly didn't expect it was going to be that easy after hauling my ass through countless mutants, robots, cyborgs and aliens, but oh well. The penultimate boss was also pretty easy too.

When 'Everything's Alright' started playing in To The Moon. Probably one of the most touching moments in any game I've played.

Defeating The Warrior in Borderlands 2 solo. Took a lot of effort, a lot of ammo and well-timed jumps whenever the lava rose.

First Dragon kill in Skyrim (mainly because it was also a cinematic kill).

Chozo Ghosts from Metroid Prime. That weird breathing sound on their battle theme is just too creepy.

Encountering Angela for the second time in Silent Hill 2. The way they used the mirror to create a double image always stuck with me, somehow. The music that plays during that scene was also pretty sweet.

Finally paying off my damn loan in Animal Crossing...only to learn there's an even bigger loan after that.

The first 5 minutes of Silent Hill 3 (after the opening scene), while 'End of Small Sanctuary' is playing. Too bad that the track is as short as its name implies...

I always thought I might be bad
Now I know that it's true
Because I think you're so good
And I'm nothing like you

Favorite videogame experiences:
When Daddy let us play his Atari 2600, it still works.
Peeking into the trunk of Dad's car only to ask why there was a Wii in the trunk, turns out it was our Christmas gift. -o-;
First time playing wii bowling, flung the remote backwards out of my hand, no TVs were harmed.
Walked into a GameStop, they gave a Harvest Moon cow plushie.
Discovering Harvest Moon because I wanted a game similar to Animal Crossing.
Finding the Sailor Moon SuperS movie DVD at GameStop, not gaming but I was happy. :D
"Winds in the east, Mist coming in, Like something is brewing, About to begin. Can't put my finger on, What lies in store, But, I feel what's to happen, All happened before..." From Mary Poppins
"For Love and Justice, I'm the pretty sailor suited soldier, Sailor Moon! In the name of the Moon, I will punish you!" Sailor Moon
"Anta Baka?!" Asuka Langley Soryu
"We fall in love, our hearts may break, we lose sleep longing for someone, but that's how we know we're alive." Usagi Tsukino from the Sailor Moon S movie.
"I'm not a nerd, I'm a specialist!!" Sousuke Sagara from Full Metal Panic.

^"IT'S LU BU!"

There's tons but one of my favorites is leaving the sewers for the first time in Oblivion. I remember just being floored by the vastness and beauty (at the time) of the lake and countryside before me.

Delita's sis getting a chest full of class warfare in Final Fantasy Tactics

Celes cliff-jumping in FF6

Stepping out into the rainy Tallon Overworld for the first time in Metroid Prime

Discovering Tetra's true identity in The Wind Waker

Killing yourself in The Darkness

Finding/exploring the Dead Sea and Chronopolis in Chrono Cross

Exploring Lahan and Shevat in Xenogears

Pretty much any cutscene or in-game sequence featuring Andrei Ulmeyda, Curtis Blackburn, Harman Smith and/or Kun Lan in Killer7. Also, the entire school and hotel levels.

Interactive boss beheadings in No More Heroes

Recruiting Magus/traveling to Lucca's childhood in Chrono Trigger

Having all your additional Pylons pitilessly destroyed by a Korean player in StarCraft

Revisiting locations from your childhood to find them silent and devastated in Ocarina of Time

Taking time out from your thrilling escape to have a fistfighting duel to the death with the psychopathic killer rapist prisoner in Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

Having some random die roll completely reverse a game of Mario Party

My favorite gaming moment isn't exactly a moment in a game, but rather the day I faked being sick to stay home from school and beat Zelda: aLttP 100% in a single setting with no deaths, getting a ** as my final total saves.

Flying as a Raccoon in Mario Bros. 3.

Completing Super Metroid, back when the Internet was a fickle thing that didn't really hold any answers for video games, and games didn't spoon-feed you tutorials, so you had to figure it out for yourself.

Entering the Dark World for the first time in Link to the Past.

Being utterly gutted for 3 years in Super Smash Bros. Melee, before buying my own Gamecube and turning the tables.

Playing Duke Nukem 3D with 5 others in DukeMatch on a LAN.

Playing Halo: Combat Evolved and finding the Flood.

Defeating multiple Hard AI factions with buddies in C&C Generals.

Loving the entirety of Otogi 2: Immortal Warriors, and earning massive respect for From Software.

Adapting to an Arcade stick and playing on-par with my neighbour in Super Street Fighter IV.

At least those are the ones that come to mind right now.

Anything up to the Dreamcast being discontinued. The rest is rubbish, especially controllers involving motion and all.

Anything involving Phantom Crash. I fucking loved that game. I still have it.

Beating Metal Sonic in Sonic Heroes. That game was so frustrating (largely due to the shitty controls) but dear god, sending that bastard crashing into the depths was sooooo satisfying. Possibly rivalled only by defeating the Scissor Demon in Blinx 2.

Playing co-op on the original Halo. Those were some of the only genuinely happy memories I have with my dad.

Getting my original Xbox. I was just a kid, and absolutely speechless. These days it's a bit worn out, and the disc tray requires a thump to open, but it's still my first and favourite gaming system.
Here lies Squigsquasher.

I don't expect anyone to believe it but one of my earliest memories was my brothers who would have been around 13-14 at the time literally making a tunnel to under the house from their room by cutting a whole where the ducted heating was. They even got a TV and N64 set up down there I can still clearly remember watching them play DK64. To this day I've only heard of a few ways of playing games as crazy as that.

Reviving the Shinshu Field Guardian Sapling in Okami. Every sapling has its own FMV, but this is the one that most impressed me at the time, and it's one of the first spectacular moments in the game.

Defeating the SA-X in Metroid Fusion. After getting chased by the damn thing for most of the game, beating the crap out of it with the Plasma Beam is oddly cathartic.

Fighting Metal Gear RAY in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Rules of Nature is still my favourite song in the entire game.

Gusty Garden Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, mainly because of its theme music.

Nu-13's Astral Heat in Blazblue. It has such a small range and such an epic animation that pulling it off feels both satisfying and awesome at the same time.

Collecting all 3 legendary pokemon and Mewtwo in Pokemon Red/Yellow.

Collecting all stars from Super Mario 64

Finding all the exits from Super Mario World
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

Granted, it was only the demo version (and only had the first two levels) but it played it
for many hours
