Not Your Average Day - Weird Stuff Thread

Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

Like the label says, it's a (locally) hand made steak and horseradish pie; with the legally required "Use by" date on it. "Today" is 25-2-17.

There is no February 30. Not even on leap years.

To follow up: A suspect has been arrested! I'd like to hope it's the guy and that he gets his comeuppance nice and smooth. But we'll have to wait and see.

There's a small, thin green line in the sky in Évora. I assume it's a laser or something? Can't take a good picture of it.

Maybe it's something really stupid or normal but I have never seen anything like it before.

Update: And it's gone. I don't understand.

^Did you see it at sunrise or sunset? If so, here's the explanation. It's a pretty rare sight, so consider yourself lucky.

^Nah, I looked that up but it isn't anything like that. It was already completely dark when I saw it and it was up in the sky.

I'm going to try and talk to other people in the city today. Hopefully someone will have an explanation.

I've confirmed I'm not insane. Other people have seen the light. I am, however, still a bit shocked with how few people saw it. It's a green line in the sky!! Are people this unaware that they could not look up for a few seconds? It's true that a small green line isn't the most noticeable of phenomena, but I still thought there would be a significant amount of people seeing the thing.

One of my colleagues at the university told me he saw something similar when a meteor fell near him. A green light was left behind.

Considering this, it seems the most likely scenario is that I saw a ionization trail. The Wikipedia page says it can last up to 45 minutes, which is more or less the amount of time the light was visible.

So yeah, I think that answers it. Still, what a beautiful and unusual sight. It won't leave my mind anytime soon.

^ It sounds like something my wife and I witnessed a few years back. I never was able to find out what it was and as far as I know we were the only ones to see it.. We were driving home and it was late at night and we both see this green light coming straight down which seemed really close to us. Freaked us both out, I just remember pulling over and bracing for an impact that never came, looked up and it was gone. No crash, nothing and no word about it from anyone else near where I live.
The gall of such conceit. Tiny forms of life, there are which 'scape the naked eye. They do not demand “Wherefore?” of the cosmos. Go die if life without reason is so loathsome to you.
