Have you ever watched Evangelion in a language other than the original Japanese or the common English dub?

Right now, I'm watching the Spanish version (not sure if it's Latino or Catalan or whatever) and Rei sounds like a middle aged woman. Hilarious.

I'm fairly sure that the Spanish dub is produced for the Hispanic audiences of North and South America, opposed to people in Spain, and the I believe the French dub is Quebecois, because it's intended for French speaking Canadians.

I think there are multiple Spanish dubs.

I have 1.11 and 2.22 in French but I don't think it's Quebecois. And I don't really like French dub ( especially Kaworu's voice, even if he doesn't talk much, I hope he will have a better voice in 3.33 ), and Shinji's voice is not the same in 1.11 and 2.22.

No doubt, but given that you're posting from within the United States, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you're watching the Spanish dub on the original "Perfect Collection" DVDs. That's what I was referring to.

I've seen 2.22 in French, but that's about it.

I own 1.11 and 2.22 in German. I'm looking for a copy of the anime in German, too.

I watched the german dub after watching the show two times with the eng subs. The dub itself is kinda ... shit, but it helped a lot understanding the more diffucult topics (especially the psychological dreams in EoE)

This is all I've found of a Hebrew Evangelion.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxpllpeeWdU

And it's.. clearly not official.

Step 1: take Evangelion 3.33

Step 2: put the language in French

Step 3: ear Shinji having the voice of a gruff 30 years-old chain smoker making him sound older than absolutely everyone else in the cast

Step 4: be unable to take any scenes of the movie even remotely seriously

This is why you watch things not named Cowboy Bebop with subs.

There have been 2 Spanish dub for Eva on Latin America, the one for locomotion and the one for animax. I have watched them both, they're... decent. Also just for fun I have watched on YouTube the dub for other languages to see if the voices fit, i liked the Italian one.

And Anno didn't hold back the French Blu Ray release? What's so special about that dub that the USA Dub gets delayed?

I think this video includes every official dub of Evangelion. (Except for the Russians, who get one of those shitty voiceover things. Is that common practice in Russia?)

I thought the Welcome to the NHK dub was pretty good.

I've seen a parody in Polish using scenes from 1.01 (maybe 1.11?) , but that's all. Want to see the Polish dub sometime.

Properly, I've seen some of the English dubs and all of original Japanese.

Probably because the French-speaking market is very small compared to the English-speaking one, it's basically France, several African countries and a couple of islands here and there around the oceans, and we're not yet 100% that the reason for the delay for the US release is because of the dub, could be because they got the same shitty images with pixelated image than the European release and are redoing the whole thing to have a clean image.

Except that we know Spike Spencer did some more dubbing recently.

Yes, but it's still not sure that it was the reason for the delay, maybe there were issues with the rights of the God Warrior film, or in the image compression, and while they were working on it thought that they could also use that opportunity to perfect the dub.

And it's possible that redoing the dub is the main reason for the delay.
