I mentioned this in the News thread.

Animation looks nice but it's only one episode.

Man, that doesn't sadden me at all. Shorts/short films can be far more memorable than entire series.

It doesn't bother me either, I actually meant it in the "before anyone thinks this is a new series" kind of sense.

Well, I didn't necessarily feel the need to specify it since googling "young animator training project" would have been enough. But yeah I guess I should have stated it instead of expecting people to do their own research outside of the thread, since not everyone has as much free time as I do.

Man, those are really freaking pretty/awesome, specially the backgrounds.

It's available online & I just watched it. It's pretty much Harry Potter in anime form so it's kinda cute & straightforward. But the animation is WONDERFUL! Very fluid, energetic & never still. As a showcase for what Studio Trigger can do it's a real treat!

(this thread would be better served in Anime subforum personally thinking)

Just saw this, it's awesome! I hope they make a show out of it!

Character, expressiveness, action, magic, fun, humor, it's got a lot going for it. And yes it was beautiful too.

Just watched this with Seele. It was great indeed; between the fast pacing, stylish expressive animation, endearing characters, and total absence of otaku pandering, I didn't think such anime even existed anymore :P

Hoping to see some really cool stuff coming from Trigger and Yoshinari!

Then you haven't obviously heard about Aku no hana.

Oz...

A) That just premiered Friday. It isn't surprising we wouldn't hear of it.

B) It's clearly all rotoscoped. IMO pretty poorly too; I liked Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly; this has nothing on those.

So I've got to ask what your comment even means relating to anything we said; it doesn't look comparable in even the slightest way to Little Witch Academia aside from the lack of the pitiful otaku pandering one finds basically everywhere.

Aku no Hana has fast pacing and endearing characters, what.

You are terrible at the Internet. No offence.

Anyway, Little Witch Academia is wonderful. Its expressive animation, charming characters and engaging action sequences reminded me of Girls und Panzer, but even better (well, fun and flashy can't compete with tense, emotionally-charged and blisteringly-paced, but they both succeeded equally well in their aims) and the animation was much better. Well, as expected from an OVA. The plot was a bit thin and clichéd, but for an OVA it fit.

I think I still hold Inferno Cop as the stronger of Trigger's two anime projects thus far, although LWA does come slightly ahead in the animation department.

I meant an upload at a video streaming site somewhere that I wouldn't have to bother torrenting :P I didn't even look for a torrent.

Also Girls Und Panzer is perhaps the worst thing that I've seen heavily lauded since K-on. I have no idea why a cast of dozens of look-alike characters in some sort of future on a gigantic ocean liner that has its own cliff-faces and lakes and streets has a bunch of idiot high schoolers driving old tanks around, but more to the point I have even less idea how this is supposed to be appealing or enjoyable in the slightest way. Also because none of them are wearing any ear protection in those stupid things, they should all be deaf. Also the show seems to have the most incompetent and/or moronic fansubbers I've ever seen, as half the damn dialogue is still in German for no reason whatsoever.

Comparing Little Witch Academia to Girls Und Panzer is perhaps the gravest insult to Little Witch Academia you could possibly ever make. Take offence at this, please. Take offence at it and grow.

Then choose the subtitles that aren't like that instead. (There's no justification for those stupid ones in the original, after all.)

And if you don't like it, you're lacking a sense of fun, I think. Sure, it's lightweight, but even that can be fun.

cute. girls. driving. tanks.

lots of fun, plenty of action, love for the detail, high animation, great soundtrack, underdog story etc.

Also things like why they are living on gigantic carriers gets explained.

confirmed for untermensch

Okay sorry for taking the thread off topic so much. I am planning to continue the After School Tank-Time show, so far only 2 eps in, despite it not being my cup of tea (after all I made it through a whole season of K-on so why not). We're looking into the subs situation.

Anyway back to LWA! This was a really neat short. I'm hoping it doesn't end up just being a short without other stuff coming along. Anyone hear anything about anything yet?

The first episodes aren't really a good gauge of what GuP has to offer. Around episode 4 is when it takes off and it's definitely not like K-On that much I can promise.

More on topic, I watched Little Witch Academia yesterday too. Great oldschool stuff that screams for a serialization. Sucy is the best.

EGF, I am disappoint. How come no one picked up the irony of my post? I even used the now-infamous picture that should have made it obvious what I was driving at.
