Mark.06 too had this "third eye" light :
Image

And there was also an hole in the helmet during Mark.06's construction in Tabgha Base :
Image

The odd thing is that while the big mask seemed to have a grid at eyes level to let it see, there isn't anything similar on the forehead area(except that big hole on the side of the forehead...)
Besides, the placement of the hole is odd : it's situated between the helmet's two horns, not really a practical place to see anything...

Maybe it isn't an eye? Maybe it's like a light that glows to show that it can see or that it's powered up? I don't know, I highly doubt it's an actual eye though.

FWIW, Yamashita's concept design drawings show the visor overlaying two eyes:

SPOILER: Show
Image
The third light/eye-bit may just be a design feature akin to Eva-00's or the Mark.09's top lens-plate thingy.

Also, in the original 3.0 preview, you can clearly see an eye on one side inside its visor.

I might be wrong, but doesn't it say something along the lines of "EVA 6 ## ADAM" in that box on the lower-left-hand side of the image?

I hope it says Adam. Though, it could be: "Evangelion Mark.06" written in Japanese.

The first part looks like "EVA 6", but the second part looks like katakana for "ADAM".

I still fail to see what that hole with the light between the two helmet's horns is for.
Maybe it's a hole to shoot a laser, like EVA-01 eye-beam, except here it comes from Mark.06's forehead and the two horns serves to channel said beam's energy... or maybe it let it make extremely cutting headbutts!

I figured they wouldn't write something like that out in the open.... The katakana for "ma" and "mu" are easy to mix up, though....

Didn't forget them, I just thought they may have been too small to see in that image.

Also, if one were to run the Mark.06 as Eva-01's intended dark counterpart parrellel to the extreme - It could be meant to mirror/mock Eva-01's third eye seen during N3I. Maybe.

Or to mirror/mock the third eye one of the Adams possesses.

Mark.06 Eyes:Imageclick for larger
that's from the 2.0 preview at the end of 1.11, 2 eyes can be seen.

I was re-watching 2.22 and Kaji's Engrish speech got me thinking:
Kaji wrote:The analysis following the permafrost excavation of the Third Angel was so extensive, all that was left were the bones. And that was the conclusion.
So the 3rd Angel was excavated from permafrost and was subject to experimentation involving entry plugs, maybe they were trying to turn an actual Angel into an Eva?
Then we have Mark.06 being excavated from the Moon... maybe Mark.06 was the culmination of what they started with the 3rd Angel? an actual Angel refitted as an Eva? What angel are we missing? the 11th... What if Mark.06 is actually the 11th Angel refitted as an Eva?

I'm going to have to ask if it's possible in terms of adam/lilith-ism in rebuild for angels to become eva. I can't keep track of NGE vs NME sometimes.

What's with all the emphasis?

Mark.06 being an Angel doesn't particularly make sense, since it's clearly humanoid, in the sort of way the Angels aren't.

Not sure if I already posted this in this particular thread, but: The 2.0 storyboards show that the blood splotch on Mare Tranquilitatis is a result of Second Impact. A "blood" spout squirted from the South Pole and hit the Moon. Since the Nerv excavation site (Tabgha Base) is located directly on the stain, it would make sense that they are excavating things brought to that site by the blood spout. Hence, Mark.06 was one of the Adams, and the Spear of Cassius was one of the four Spears present at Second Impact.

Hi guys!

I have a question: How Shinji knew about Mark.06 and how it looks?

He didn't; he just noticed something that looked like an Eva.
