I was a big fan of the 1.11 review, as it really hit the nail on the head in terms of the film's accessibility to an audience unfamiliar with Evangelion - I'll be very interested to see if this review is similarly apt. |

Imho a very bad review.... 99% is just a retelling the whole story with spoilers and only mentioning that all characters are mentally ill and that naked kids are annoying. Just 2 minutes before the whole thing ends, he starts to say what is good and bad about the movie. Lame. _________________ this is (not) just a summary |

Well, as a review it really is bad, but as a funny little deconstruction about ridiculous things an eva-fan would never notice, it is great! _________________ 2Q||3.33 _ 神殺しを行う |

Well, actually, his style of review isn't the sort you'd see on Roger Ebert's website. It's a show, and he goes into a lot of detail. Watch his other reviews and you'll see the same thing.
It's perfectly alright if you don't like his style. But it is a style, not shitty reviewing.
And from my own subjective neck of the woods... I found it hilarious! Like many of his reviews, it's much like the highlights of watching a film with someone smart and hearing their comments on it as the film goes on. Something I'm very familiar with from film school, incidentally.
He's got a good wit, and makes some very excellent points about the film... and he liked it! Which is great! He's a very critical individual, never afraid to bash something if he dislikes it, so if he enjoyed it, that's an excellent sign. |

I found the review hilarious. Though I was surprised that he actually liked the movie. Perhaps his position will change after having seen the series. If nothing else the movie got him interested in that. _________________ Sic Semper Tyrannus

He said people's whining comments about the ending were discouraging him. I've been following him for years, but I've never sent him an email before. That remark moved me to action, so I gave him an alternate perspective on the matter (ie. both endings are brilliant). _________________ "I'm afraid you can't create tragedy out of abnormal psychology." - Andrew Sarris. |

I've been in contact with him for about a year now, in my last message I sent him a link to the wiki in case he had any questions.
With this same message (and a donation) I've also finally convinced him to review... something.

"Storyline"... Red Letter Media owes an apology to humanity for what it's done. |

My original idea was worse than that. Though in all honesty, I'm still thinking of how I can get him to do it. That he reviewed MLP: FIM and is now doing Gargoyles actually convinces he can.

How in the world would I get to Minnesota? Sure I could fly, but it's not waves season, so it'd be pretty hard to do in a Glider... Anyway, my review hasn't been done yet, but when it shows up on the schedule, I'd say a few people here at least will recognize it.
I'm thinking he won't be able to resist getting a little giddy over this, Jennifer Hale makes a (voice) cameo in one of the episodes. _________________ "It's all fun and games till one of you gets my foot up your ass." - FofR, TrivialBeing.net Webmaster

...eh. Storylines aren't really my thing for a review, to tell the truth. Though redlettermedia's review of Star Wars Episode 1 was so funny, and so well-written, that even my step dad laughed so hard he cried.
...though you might as well say "eh, this music sucks. It's not as good as Stairway to Heaven!" And, since most of the best music ever made is worse than Stairway to Heaven, you'll be missing out on some excellent music.
Seriously, it's okay to not like SFDebris! Even the greatest reviewer or movie or book will have detractors, or people for whom it just isn't to their taste.
But SFDebris isn't bad, he is in fact excellent at what he does. But what he does isn't for everyone. Kinda like... Evangelion! (Incidentally, in this review he didn't really bash on it. He made fun of stuff, sure, but that's different from bashing. You want to see SFDebris bashing? Then look at, say, half of his Star Trek Voyager reviews. Compared to that, he gave Eva love-taps at worst.) |

Funny review is funny. Im not in the habit of getting in a tiss because he isnt majorly clued up on the show or anime generally. And he does spot some stuff I didnt see on the first few viewings.
He can riff on it as much as he likes, as long as the riffs are good. |
