Live-Action Evangelion Movie (2009)

Postby FreakyFilmFan4ever » Tue Mar 27, 2012 6:47 pm

So, long-story condensed, a friend of mine gave me a free movie over the Facebook App "Flixter" (which I haven't used in years) and I realized that:

A) It's new, updated, and affiliated with UlraViolet, and...

B) Apperently it thinks Evangelion was actually adapted into live-action film in the year 2009. (Suspiciously the same year Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance was released to cinemas in Japan.)

Image

According to Flixter, the film looks like it was well received by audiences. Stranger yet is that the the site still acknowledges the rest of the Evangelion feature films, so it's not like it completely mistook 2.0 for a Hollywood film.

I wonder how Matt Greenfield responded to not being involved in the making of this film. :smirk:

EDIT: I also found Jurassic Park IV on this App. I guess these guys just really need to clean out the junk.

If you just zoom in on the poster it is rated "F" for Fake, that should be the first give away.

 That's a pretty dumb mistake. The whole thing seems very thourough for a simple mistake, though. How does a film that doesn't even exist get an 84% approval rating? I wonder if someone running Flixter is pulling pranks just to see if anyone notices.

It's probably that they're pulling in data from 3rd parties and there's an ontological mismatch. You can see they're pulling stuff in from Rotten Tomatoes, for example. So their internal mapping for movies<->data just needs to be fixed.

I still hope someone digs it up and rapes its corpse.

Hollywood take on Eva would be just too hilarious to pass up.

Anyone know if Michael Bay knows of Evangelion's existence? If so then it may not be dead until Megan Fox sings.

Thankfully not. I heard that Weta Workshop (the CGI wizards who worked on hits like Rise of the Planet of the Apes and The Lord of the Rings) was involved at some point. I also heard that they were fans of the series and were looking for Asian actors and actresses. Appleseed's Joseph Chu also was a part of the project. It seems to be going nowhere now, though.

I'd honestly prefer a live-action television series than a trilogy of films. I feel like there would be more space to flesh out the characters and to make the story more coherent. It seems like a show with at least 18 hours of footage would work better for a series like this than three 6 hour movies.

At least we can all just look at this and dream of what could be/could have been.
In Heaven everything is fine.
