Anyone excited for this? I'm actually not. I was excited in 2008. Now I couldn't care less. A bit sad on my part. But I hope it makes a lot of people happy.

I was trying to bring myself to be excited about it, but I think FOX executives are going to cancel the movie 20 minutes in.

I'm gibbering in anticipation. Seriously. They've built up to this really well and it's Joss Wheaton. Going at midnight with the rest of my school's student film committee.

I am both excited and expecting some silliness to it. A Bad-ass hero, a hot chick with skills, a legendary american hero, the over-the-top hero that carries his hammer, an unknown man with a bad-ass arrow weapon, and a man that goes ape-sh*t crazy when he's pissed (not played by Edward Norton... WHY?!)- working together? ... Seems a bit more silly than "Justice League". Would I see it? Hell, yeah! - but I wouldn't go overboard with it.

Normally I'd be only moderately enthusiastic but it is written and directed by Joss "Wheaton" Whedon, so my enthusiasm is just high enough that I'll probably take initiative to see it soon after its release rather than wait for someone to ask me if I want to go.

Anything that has Tom Hiddleston as Loki will be awesome.

Evil aliens are attacking the Earth. Quick! Let's get the guy with a bow and arrow, and the chick with big tits to save the world!

Yeah, everyone jokes about how Black Widow is taking on the alien invaders with... a pistol. On one of IGN's Rewind Theater things, they pointed out that there are glowing blue thingamajigs on her wrists, so she might have something more high-tech than a pistol. But, even Captain America seems like he can't do much, with only his shield. But I guess that's the movie's job, to surprise us awesomely.

I remember something the director of Spider-man 3 said about what works in a comic book doesn't always work in a movie. I'm worried that script writers are becoming lazy about adapting stories from comics to movies eg. X-men 3, Fantastic four 2. I sometimes wake up in a cold sweat after having a nightmare about X-men 5 Prince Archron, The alien who somehow speaks english, dresses like a viking and lives in Atlantas.
I'm a bit worried, but I will be happy if it has cool action scenes, then it cancel out the cheesey lines/story

Boy, is "The Evil Dead" director right: some comic books can't translate well to film (even Thor... yeah, that film's over-the-top at times)
... and I like X-Men 3. It's better than Spiderman 3. God, what a mess that film was.

Comic books translate into films perfectly, it is just a matter of ignoring the whiny naysayers that need concrete shoes while ocean diving.

Anyway, I'm definitely seeing this when it comes out! I have been looking forward to this since Iron Man 1; lets hope it's like the comics!

Edit: http://www.411mania.com/movies/news/231924

So the main villains are......... trolls?

I admire Marvel for having big plans for their Cinematic Marvel universe... but I gotta admit I'm not excited for The Avengers. Their execution has just been subpar in my opinion.

When the Marvel lineup was announced in 2008 after Iron Man hit it was hard not to get a geek boner at the world they were going to present. Sadly, aside from Jon Favreau's original Iron Man film I've found everything else they've done to be severely lacking.
The Incredible Hulk was mighty average. Iron Man 2 was a dull clusterfuck. Thor was pretty thorrible. Captain America had it's moments but overall didn't really offer anything - not to mention X-Men:First Class stole all it's thunder.

I'm sure The Avengers will be entertaining. I've paid to see all the other ones in theaters so I won't be skipping out on this one. But I don't think it will be a film I'll ever want to revisit.

Also - like someone said, what the hell is Scarlett Johansson supposed to do on this team? Distract the aliens with her ASSets?

Loki tricking an alien race into fighting for him would be awesome.

Loki descending into one of the nine realms and forming an army of trolls or Disir? Less impressive, and better-suited to another Thor movie. :/

I'm not interested in any of the characters, so... no.

A super hero movie needs a writer/director like Christopher Nolan at the helm for me to truly care.

I'm there, day one. It's going to be awesome. All the other super hero movies this summer really need to bring their grade-A marketing game, because right now the only two movies I feel like I have to see this summer are Avengers and Magic Mike. Yeah, the Channing T. stripper movie. I fell more urgency to see that than DKR.

I will likely see the movie in theatres but I'm not going day one maybe some time during the week when it is less crowded.

Is anyone else going to do a Marvel Cinematic Universe binge before they see this? I know I am.

(For the record, the MCU does not consist of every Marvel movie ever. What it does contain, however, is Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and this movie.)

What is wrong with you?

I hadn't even heard of Magic Mike before now.
