A retelling of the series from Asuka's POV could be pretty neat, I think. After Rebuild was announced I initially (naively) hoped it might be this.

Or maybe if Evangelion collides with the show "Gurren Lagann". Why not? They're owned by the same company!

That's the opposite of what he needs. Part of Shinji's appeal is the fact that he comes across as a real person rather than a stereotype. Shinji needs to grow up and get over his self-hatred, but he doesn't need to be more "manly".

And anyway, go watch ep. 19 again. He's got the whole manliness thing down pat when his mind isn't broken by murder and betrayal and such.

I personally would like to see exactly in what circumstances Shinji grew up in when Gendo abandoned him. How did his life evolve in the years between his abandonment and his arrival Tokyo-3? What relationship did he actually have with his "mentor" (if they had a relationship), and was it all a ploy by Gendo?

On a more serious note, a micro chronicle on every character in the series would be cool. This way, we get back story. Like.. an episode a character or something of the sort.
