Anyone else ever get so pissed and/or stressed out that the only thing you can do to keep yourself from losing your mind is to put one particular song on repeat and crank it up, to block everything else out, and possibly get something done that needs to get done?

Lately, that song for me has been Muse's Uprising:

Before Uprising, that song was Songify This' Double Rainbow remix:

My favorite song of all time is a very influential musical therapy for me. I can listen to it over and over again and it still manages to move me emotionally by the end of it. In more ways than one, this song has changed my life.

Thankfully I haven't had to do this for a while but the last time.

Last time I did however I was seriously helpful. I helped me let off a lot of stress and drown out some others that only seemed to create more stress.
Anyways it was more of an entire album then one song. I was listening to Time and Tide from the Battlefield Band, although I did listen to this one the most.

Recently I was listening to Bachs Cello suite #5 whenever I need to get stuff done.

When I get to the bottom
I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and turn
and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Do you don't you want me to love you
I'm coming down fast but I'm miles above you
Tell me tell me come on tell me the answer
and you may be a lover but you ain't no dancer

You're so melodramatic.

I usually have The Sons of Fate by The Protomen on repeat.

Earth - Like Gold and Faceted

Youtube's audio quality doesn't really do it justice, but all the same...crank it all the way up, noise cancelers on, and just fucking drown in it. If this was track 26 on Shinji's SDAT, he'd have been congratulated by episode 3.

Yeah I leave songs on repeat. Sometimes for hours on end. Usually when I do I'm using the song as background music to enhance the mood of whatever I'm reading.

(Epic intro)

Short people got, nobody, short people got nobody.
Short people got nobody, To love~

They got little baby legs, That stand so low
You got to pick em up, Just to say hello

Well, I don't want no short people, Don't want no short people
Don't want no short, people 'Round here.

It always humbles me "At least I've never been trolled this bad."

SPOILER: Show
... Lol, no, it's just songs that directly attack the issues of the day are generally ineffective, what's best for me is always a non-sequitur. Also, WH rhetoric.

Conversely, I just can't stand to listen to "Had a Bad Day", grew to be too much of a cliché.

In fact, for any song I keep in my library that has something of a "woe is me" or "emo" theme to it, I'll typically have a second version that makes fun of it (Chipmunks, Al Yankovic, SNL parody etc.), just to make sure I know not to take what it sings too seriously.

The only time I can leave music on is when I'm browsing the Internet and doing nothing in particular. I can't get anything productive done if there's good music playing in the background because I always want to stop and listen to it.

On the other hand, having some TV on in the background calms me down and helps me concentrate on stuff. I don't get to use the TV often anymore, though.

I only do that when I'm really feeling down and just want to wallow for a while in a soundscape that knows how I feel.

Queensryche - Silent Lucidity

Annie Lennox - Into the West

Marrillion - Childhood's End (entire album, but the highlight is probably Kayleigh)

My favorite variant. You'd probably hate it though. Anyone who loves the song itself likely would, it's in rather poor quality.

Excellent choices for pick-up songs, guys!

As for me, I'd say 'Can't Stop' by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
