First Thread, Don't Kill Me

Well, since today's his 20th anniversary, I thought I should celebrate it by making a new tread. Here, we can post news and anything else about Sonic.

I'm probably the only one on this forum hyped for the new sonic game Sonic Generations. :sweatdrop:

Calling it right now; half of the fanbase will love it, other half will hate it with a burning passion of a million barrels from S3&K.

^To put it simply,
SPOILER: Show

I tend to act like a nostalgia brat, but I still want a quality game. Which is why I'm hoping Sega won't let me down.

I'm downloading the demo right now. I'll let y'all know how it plays.

EDIT: It's really hard on the eyes. I'm not sure if it was just the level or what but it was really painful to look at when running. The controls still feel a little stiff to me, like sonic 4. They do some cool things with switching from 2.5d to 3d.

Eh.
Brb, popping in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle into my Wii.

ROLLING AROUND AT THE SPEED OF SOUND
GOT PLACES TO GO, GOTTA FOLLOW MY RAINBOW
CANT STICK AROUND, HAVE TO KEEP MOVING ON
GUESS WHAT LIES AHEAD, THERE´S ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT!

BUT YOU CAN HARDLY SWALLOW
YOUR FEARS AND PAIN
BUT YOU CANT HELP BUT FOLLOW
IT PUTS YOU RIGHT BACK WHERE YOU CAME

LIVE AND LEARN

Something tells me that Sonic Generations will be crap.
Because if I looking back onto Sonic Adventure 2, I realize that this game is now terribly dated.
It was mind-bengingly awesome back in the days when I got this as a Gamecube launch title, but I don´t know if the same formula still works today.

@ZapX: Really? I'm also starting to hear from other people that the game play is blurry and the physics is weird too.

It's pretty blurry. It looks interlaced, or really dithered. The only parts that are sharp and clear are the rings and the text. That city escape level looks pretty awesome. I hope they have a demo of that soon.

I played the demo today and it was pretty good. I hope the full game will be decent, Sonic is lucky to last this long after having a line of crappy games similar to Spyro and Crash.

What I love about the Sonic fandom is the parodies. My favorite is the Sonic Shorts Series:

^Eh, they're hit and miss, just like anything the fanbase makes. Some of them are memorable ("nnnnooooooooo"), some of them have funny jokes that save otherwise bland shorts ("To get through tight spaces, press the circle button to slide!"), some of them are just pointless ("I believe someone just took my wallet), and some jokes just go on for too long.

I've been a fan of the series since the start of 1994, when my mom bought me a Genesis 2 with Sonic 2 with some of the money from her Pell grant, and was hooked ever since.

I wax nostalgia on the, well, "nostalgia" era, yet I've enjoyed most of what I've played in the "neo" era, too. I'm not a nostalgia brat or a neo brat - in fact, I think both factions are a bunch of fuckwits. Love the Sonic series for being the Sonic series, chucklefucks.

...Speaking of all this Sonic stuff, one of these days I need to gather up the inspiration to finish a certain fic that can be found deep in the fanfication section of this forum. :sonic_idle:

It is my opinion that you do not understand Sonic until you have played two or more of the following:
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic CD
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Sonic & Knuckles

Is this not a hi-res remake of Sonic CD with the original soundtrack? Then fuck it.
