ANN's Todd Ciolek (segments bolded by yours truly) wrote:Sound Impact is a rhythm-action game with six different modes of play, and it's the work of Suda 51's Grasshopper Manufacture and composer Akira Yamaoka, who also collaborated on next week's Shadows of the Damned. In fact, Yamaoka's remixing 30 pieces of Evangelion music for the game, due out at the end of September.

WHY HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THIS

I rarely say or do this, but I am SO importing. (It's for PSP, a quick Google search has informed me.)

Just the fact that they're not publishing yet another pachinko game is a good news (at least for PSP they've published 3 pachinko games in a row during the last year, the last one has been published just some days ago).
Anyway thanks for reporting it, there are some crappy magazine pictures on this Japanese website, hopefully better scans (and more infos) will be available in the next days/weeks.

Suda 51 will be the game's creative producer, 30+ tracks remixed by Yamaoka, all of them run by and approved by Sagisu.

WHERE DO I PREORDER THIS SHIT. :kensuke_drool:

As tempting as the most expensive package is (Yes I'm freakin' weird), I guess I'd probably stick with the package that includes the soundtrack, assuming I'd have the money to burn by that point.

Also, my first news update within about a year (wow). I hope I didn't screw anything up.

@SSD: You should add to the news post that the game is being produced by Goichi "Suda51" Suda, director of Killer7 and No More Heroes.

Also, what's the best import site? Are there any that where you can order the special edition(s) of the game?

Whoops, thanks!

As for preordering, probably Play Asia http://www.play-asia.com/ or maybe CD Japan http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/ is your best bet.

Holy shit, same here. :jawdrop: Maybe I should just save up any money strictly for that...

I added an image of the cover to the news post. Shit, this game looks pretty sweet even with the visuals. @_@

And here is a trailer. (And the website it came from.) I wonder how many Evangelion-related commercials Kotono Mitsuishi has done by now? And how much she gets paid for each one?

It's a pun (albeit an Engrishy one), since "third" as pronounced in Japanese sounds like "saad". So "saa-nd Impact". "Sound Impact". Ha ha.

EDIT: Looks like I beat Symbv to the punch! Ha HA!!

Suda making a rhythm game, this should be worth checking out.
Also finally an Evangelion game that (I hope) doesn't require deep understanding of Japanese language to be playable (after Evangelion64 and that fighting PS2 game)

English in Japan (or even Asia in that matter), is treated quite peculiar sometimes. Even if you're talking in horrible english, you're considered 'cool'. I guess Gainax wanted to show how cool they were with their play on words, even if native english speakers didn't get it.

EDIT: Oh and Akira Yamaoka is one my fav composers. So I hope this is good.
