Just who is Shinji Destined for?

This is truly an interesting topic. The one Shinji loves is? IMO it's Asuka, because like they say oppisites atract. Or maybe I'm just stuck in Ranma mode...

If Rei hadn't fallen into a bunch of nice little chunky bite-sized pieces, I thing Shinji would tap that. But then again in EoE out of all the girls he ended up by Asukas side. So I think he's going with Asuka seeing that shes a little normal but I think if Rei and him had more time it could've been something.

i despise shinj x Asuka cuz personally i think Asuka would never go for Shinji too much evidence in the show then again i know a bunch of you will be like "but yeah theres evidence for the Shinji x Asuka too!"

I'm not trying to be a downer here, but it's kind of a moot point - especially going by EOE rules. Misato's twice his age (and dead), Rei's part Yui (and dead), and, hell, even freaking Kaworu's from an Angel (alien, according to the PS2 game), and he's dead too. That pretty much leaves Asuka; as far as I see things, if Shinji was supposed to be with anyone else, it would've been written that way...

Not trying to be rude - I'm just saying.

Asuka and Shinji do like each other , even though they try to hide it.
It's like ash and misty ( in Pokemon, from memory) , misty likes Ash , and Ash has no clue .But he sometimes reveals his true feelings for misty.

Of course it is more obvious with Shinji and Asuka. Its all in the Dialogue ( what they say in the episodes) and actions.

1. Plus people who fight love each other ( a saying from somewhere)
2. oppisites atract
3. Shinji goes blistic ( screams) when he sees what had happen to Asuka in EoE.
4.He tries to kiss her , his heart is racing ( indicated by the music player)

But I have to agree with this

i read from a website that Asuka is supposed to also embody Rei in the final scene (with the bandages) it probably isnt a coincidence but i thought that Rei had her left eye covered up and Asuka had her right bandaged....
Asuka is definatly the choice...she and Shinji are the opposite ends of the spectrum while dealing with the same situation: Shinji turned inward, while Asuka turned outward, as a result, Shinji becomes reclusive and Asuka becomes a complete extrovert... this shared past is what links them together...

True they'd be different since they are individuals.
Asuka and Shinji still need time to work themselves out before they can start to get along with eachother.

However, if Asuka kept on going the way she did then she'd definately turn into someone like Misato.
Someone that uses artificial happiness to temporarily relieve her problems.
So only if Asuka would turn into something like that, then Shinji would most likely play the role of "Kaji" in a sense.
