now, this was a post of mine on Gaia, so Asuka, you dont need to read it

but i dont think it was picked apart enough, if at all

that AT field is the projection of ones ego. take me for example, i seem to be entirely arrogant and as thus have a big ego, aka, AT field. i am able to effectively push a lot of people away.

the angels had amazing AT fields becuase they knew nothing but the eraication of others. also why im assuming they never attacked in pairs. in consideration we are all angels. they are of different forms. as such, would not they fight as well.

somthing that was probly brought to mind was the fact of why are they not fighting each other instead of us. im guessing this is due to our number. take out the biggest threat so we can have a better fight

doesnt give the whole thought, but im sure you can patch a few of the needed ideas, if not, ask and i shall give thee

Interesting, I always thought ones kAT-field was prjected by love. If the AT-field was powered by wouldn't Shinji's be extremly weak? Though it would explain why Asuka was able to destroy all the eva's in EOE.

Yes, but I will read it again.
I thought it was an interesting, not to mention different, opinion about the whole AT Field thing.
There's a few occasions in the series that actually make this more plausible.

didnt they state that the AT field was an actual term in some science? and the AT field seems to be a projection of the soul...not love ex: Rei attacking Zeruel: she projected a massive AT field to neutralize the angel's but didnt have her mother in the eva (no mom...unless naoko counts)

AT means Absolute Terror.

to me that means the fear of being completely open and readable to another

If I remember my limited exposure to psycology correctly wasn't an Absoulte Terror Field a space created by emotionally disturbed children to ward of the harms of the world or somthing along those lines? Becasue if so it would really explain why Shinji, Asuka, Rei and Touji were able to become pilots, seeing as they didn't have the happyist childhood

No, not a self defense mechanism really.
If you've got a big ego, you've got a stronger AT Field.

That'd only be true if Shinji were an arrogant prat. He's got no real Ego issues, so this theory would only prove right for Asuka.
It's actually quite coincidental with her.

She's arrogant and confident in her piloting skills at first, she was able to produce an AT Field.
When she began to have self doubt about her being first rate, and when she was mind raped, she had no real confidence, or much of a swollen ego.
Therefore no AT Field.

A little from "column A" and little from "column B". I would say 50/50

Rei's mental state didnt really seem to be different at that point. She was the only one who was really consistant in her outward disposition.

And 'motherly love' would be something different than 'ego' would it not?

That was just a desire to protect Shinji.
Unless there would be more to your ego theory.
