was evangelion platinum collected edited???

Postby ianthegamer » Sat Feb 05, 2011 2:08 am

so i hit episode 20 and at 2 points when Misato was yelling at ritsuko and they seemed to edit out hell?! why in the world would they do that

After they see Shinji has vanished in the cockpit Misato yells " what in the (hell*) is this... few seconds later while yelling at ritsuko "taken into it? what in the (Hell/heck**) is an eva?"

*sounds like they cut it and think about putting heck instead but nothing there
**sounds like the first part is hell than ends like heck

I dont remember this in the original dvds though its been awhile since i have watched the series and since I gave the original dvds to my gf i cant reference back to them...Any way its such a strange word to edit out given the context of evangelion and all its biblical metaphors

I think the title of this thread is edited.

I watched the Japanese dubs. I've no idea what Matt Greenfield was doing with the platinum's English dubs.

Never sound like that to me...
NGE was a damned good anime
EoE was an anime masterpiece
And Rebuild is nothing short of epic
Long live the EVAs!!

If that had been the case, hundreds of psychotic fans would have burned ADV to the ground back when it was first released.

I was going to put that, but I don’t want to flame somebody for liking the dub. Take mercy on the newb, guys.

I compared my Perfect release, and two versions of my Platinum release, and all three of them have the same lines.

Misato's first "hell" is kind of breathy, and not well enunciated, and the second has a kind of weird cadence to it ("what in thee hell" rather than "what in the hell"), but they are both there in each version. If you haven't seen the Perfect version in a while, I can see how the first might sound edited, because she doesn't speak the whole world clearly, it's more like "What in the he... is this?".

Also, I'm closing this, on account of the ant-dub assclownery. Way to go guys, way to ruin another topic.
