Re: The Official Ace Combat Thread

Dang, no release date, but that is a slick gameplay trailer. Liking the idea of an expendable penal unit. Also, really hoping this game has divergent story paths like in 3; the previous trailers seem to hint at such.

Re: Resident Evil

Not sure how I feel about the RE2 remake: The reveal trailer didn't do much of anything for me, but having since seen a snippet of gameplay , I think it actually looks pretty good. I was kind of hoping Capcom would stick with the first-person style established in 7 and tweak and refine it further. W...

Re: Silent Hill

Any interest in playing SH3? You got a copy of Silent Hill 3 yet, Blue? Oh, absolutely! I installed 3 on my PC around the same time I installed 4, it's just that I played 4 first because it always seemed to be the most interesting to me, knowing the little bits and pieces I did about it, i.e. being...

Re: The Official Ace Combat Thread

Man, feels like I've been waiting forever for 7 to come out. I never really played much of the past games as a kid (I would love to go back and play "the Trinity" with more appreciative eyes) but my interest and love of planes, specifically fighter jets, has reemerged over the past couple ...

Re: Silent Hill

Beat 4 the other night and got the best ending, 'Escape', although it seems the "best" in this one is merely the standard/common ending, compared to the other outcomes that are available (Man, '21 Sacraments' is a turn for the dark, the equivalent of 'In Water' from 2). Overall, I really l...

Re: Your entertainment wishlist?

Jonathan Hickman to quit screwin' about, sign DC exclusive and write World's Finest , Legion of Super-Heroes and Earth-2 . Apparently LOSH is his favourite superhero property, a perfect vehicle for his style of cosmic-scale epics, and the rumours of Hickman joining the DC stable have been fervent si...

Re: Silent Hill

Whenever you get around to it make sure you post in here, even if it takes yearssss. This turned out being strangely prophetic; I finally started 4 tonight for the first time  Not much to report in yet. I've played about three hours or so, and been to the Subway, Forest and just arrived at ...

Re: Currently playing 4: Guns of the Patriots

I'm the same with Episode One actually; I can't remember anything of it, if at all. I can recall only the one battle sequence where you're with Alyx underground, it's almost pitch-black and wave after wave of headcrab zombies attack you. That's seriously about all I can remember, whereas Episode Two...

SILENT HILLS  SPOILER: Show

I wish they'd just get together and make their own survival horror game IP. Hopefully Death Stranding bankrolls them enough to be able to do so.

Re: [Music] The Grand Music Discussion Thread [3]

More general fodder for the thread; caught this pleasant number on the radio today whilst at work, which sounds to me like Bon Iver by way of The Police: Westerman - Confirmation What'd'ya think of Rainbow Mirror ? As a massive Prurient fan, I'm still posing the same question to myself. I've only ma...

Re: Currently playing 4: Guns of the Patriots

Hey, I just replayed Half-Life 2 only a few weeks ago ^_^ It's only the second time I've gone through it but I find that game really peaceful; just the ambience, the world, the vibe. It's all pretty cozy. It really is an "ambient shooter". I'll have to get around to playing Episode One and...

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

Glad to be getting more Japanese Godzilla to be honest, and I'm satisfied they're leaving Anno's as standalone. I do wonder though, and thought on the odd occasion since having seen it, what the hell a sequel would be like, considering the stinger/coda in the film . I also wonder how much, if any, t...

Re: [Music] The Grand Music Discussion Thread [3]

Like an off-brand version of Radiohead's The Bends. Ooph. They're apple and oranges, two different bands working within two different genres. Funny you mention Beach House in the same post because Slowdive are a shoegaze/dream pop band, much closer to them, then say the alternative of Radiohead. I ...

Re: [Music] The Grand Music Discussion Thread [3]

Even though it came out last year, I've only recently been listening to more of the self-titled Slowdive release. I don't think many people would agree with me, but it's a way better album than Souvlaki in my opinion, which has, like, only two good songs, whereas the rest you can take it or leave it...

Re: [Literature] Currently Reading (discussion)

About a quart of the way into The Brothers Karamazov and it's pretty comfy so far. Although the story and characters are already foretelling the impending tragedy, and I'm not really ready/in the mood for any agony. Will have to see how I go. Alyosha is very chill but Mitya is an absolute madman.

Re: What manga are you reading right now?

I'm reading Nausicaa, the Viz edition that comes in a box, two big volumes. Nausicaä is in my top ten comics of all time, it's awesome, and to think that the movie only adapts the first three books or so (maybe less), when the manga goes up to seven. Not to mention that the crazier shit, the really...
