a change in the molecular structure would refer to a change in the formula, or a change (if it is an extensive molecule) of the arrangement of groups (cis and trans for certain hydrocarbons) Not necessarily. I suspect that most people have examples of such a change in molecular stru...

that would be sick Given that the first widely notorious slash fiction was K/S, I would be more suprised if there wasn't any Gendo/Kouzo yaoi out there. and the monkeys masturbate? O_O They're apes, and yes, like many animals, they do. Apparently bulls can get into bad habits that lead to t...

True, true ... a lot people refer to this moment of the film as everyone's 'death'; I guess you can look at it that way, since the people are no longer people, but the way most characters were greeted by those they apparently longed to see was so overly-pleasant (and contrasted abru...

Thanks for that.

I'd skipped that one as the first reference I'd had to it was one suggesting that the conclusions reached about souls or parts thereof had been discredited. And Google only turns up Eva related pages when asked.

If by 'disturbing' we mean things that made me uncomfortable, I don't think anything in the series did particularly... [snip]... EoE, on the other hand... Much the same here. For the TV series, the hints and revelations were more intriguing - that this was more than just a "monster...

Re: Room of Gauf, Souls, Blah Blah Blah

I still have no idea what the deal with the Gauf crap is. Indeed, does anyone even know whether this is some reference to any pre-existing mysticism? When I heard it first, the "Chamber of Gath/Guaf/Gaf/?Qaf?" struck me as something that might have been hauled out of some qabbalistic trad...

The Comprise is a prefiguration of the Complementation, a human fusion overmind, as seen in Michael Swanwick's Vacuum Flowers ; for the rest of it, the Sysop scenario FAQ covers the broad concept - a Singularity in which there is some benign mediating overmind. The latter is actually something ...

We do have some samples of the "world he made" elsewhere, and they didn't seem to be much better. It is, however, a rather negative or perverse interpretation of Rei and Yui's words to read them as implying that the sysop permits any mentality to drop back to merely human-level pr...

Come on, everything we see there is consistent with what was going on beforehand in the movie: giant chunks of Rei looming on the horizon, petrified Evas, a sea of LCL, the landscape trashed by the giant explosion that excavated the Geofront... and/or the side effects of GNR impact What possible in...

Then again, looking here , we were definitely getting "up there". Using the diameter of the Black Moon as a guide, I once calculated "super-GNR"'s height to be approximately 145.5km. I probably ought to check that sometime, though. Assuming it's correct, I wonder where t...

To me, it boils down to the characters. That's part of the reason why I prefer the series ending to the End of Eva. At the end of it all, Evangelion is not about Angels or Evas or any of that. Its about the characters. And every one of them is well defined, well portrayed, and in some way relat...

Eva leaves a lot of loose threads. And in that respect, (in my opinion) every single visual indicator shouldn't be interpretted in some grand intellectual scheme. ESPECIALLY when the story was only outlined prior to production. The story was storyboarded and finalized on the fly. If it ...

The only thing that really vindicates people's beliefs that Misato is a pedaphile is the scene in End of Eva where she kisses Shinji. Please keep in mind that she had just been shot… And having failed to motivate the inert lump she'd been dragging around up to that point by either app...
