Re: Shin Eva - New Trailer (12-24-20)
Since those tend to be tied to Instrurmentality and Shinji's inner thoughts, I'd say that's pretty darn likely, yeah. (Before 3.0 screened, I assumed we'd get some sort of psychological Hell Train of Shinji and Rei in Eva-01, making contact with Yui. But, well.... )

Re: Shin Eva - New Trailer (12-24-20)
https://i.imgur.com/wqz6uPN.jpg Since I'm in the mood to overanalyze things, another thing that should be noted is that this alleged "Smol Asuka" is carrying what appears to be a white dotted red/pink-colored backpack. I still think if that's Asuka, it could be New Movie Edition's take of...

Re: What do you appreciate most about NTE?
Simple answer, but visually: the animation (and cinematography) are gorgeous in so many shots! A lot of the films are nice to just "turn off my brain and enjoy" since it's a series that IMO the plot will make 10x more sense to us once we have Shin to rewatch (alongside the rest of our DVDs...

Haha! Some family members are near your age, but I don't know how much the majority would appreciate Eva (Happily, at least one does!)

I swear somewhere in the Wiki https://wiki.evageeks.org/ it discusses how Eva-00's colors in NGE were planned to change similarly like how the New Movies did, but I can't find anything immediately.

Re: How old were you when the first rebuild came out in 2007 and how old are you now?
If I'm mathing correctly: 1.0 came out in Japanese theaters shortly before I turned 22. An excitable and quite new Eva fangirl—I only got into NGE/EoE in 2005-2006.

Re: Anno: On Gainax tainting the Evangelion Brand
Looks like Gun and Diebuster rights are currently Bandai, if I'm reading the Japanese Wikipedia page correctly?
That they wanted to get the rights to FLCL but couldn't especially stings.
But I thought Khara has Nadia, didn't they release a TV series bluray box recently?

Anno: On Gainax tainting the Evangelion Brand
Very very interesting writeup by the man himself, for those who haven't read it yet. Discusses a lot about how GAINAX went under, their money issues, and Anno's regrettable decision to split and form Khara instead. (Maybe post Eva and Shin Ultraman, fans'll get whatever his new project was?? Unless ...

Re: Shin Eva's Indefinite Delay Support Group
"Too bad!" was actually regarding fans disliking end of TV (in contrast with EoE). But frankly, I don't think Anno will care about what westerns think about the New Movie Edition project. He's first and foremost made the New Movies for a new/the younger generation of fans (going by his sta...

Re: Evangelion 3.33 FAQ
Well, there's still the possibility of the quote being some sort of Lucas-style "I always intended for this to happen, even though I didn't" retcon. One of the Complete Records Collection (2.0's CRC?) mentions Kaworu's seiyuu Akira Ishida knowing about certain twists by Anno since 1.0's r...

In Japan at least, Eva (the NGE and NTE movies alike) have been on a buttload of streaming services, via the official site: https://www.evangelion.co.jp/od.html

Re: Shin Eva's Indefinite Delay Support Group
My own gripes are Funimation's allergy to the Kanji Tel-Ops in the New Movie Editions (and had they gotten NGE, I can only imagine all the Kanji in Episode 22' and End of TV being replaced with English text O_o I believe the original ADV sets did similarly?), so I can only hope GKids—assuming they r...

Just wanted to say thanks as always for your book review blog—it's always fun to give a reread in downtime (especially because I hope to make some Eva book purchases in the future, it helps me clarify which ones I'd prefer )

Re: EVANGELION:3.333 discussion thread
Yeah, Instrumentality/some kind of metaphysical wackiness wouldn't surprise me in the least for a lot of the scenes, too. (Case in point that Shinji's bomb collar was edited out of the 3.0 trailers so clever editing could be happening, here, too.)

Re: EVANGELION:3.333 discussion thread
I'd absolutely love an optimistic shounen mecha approach like that! It, uh, certainly beats an alternative with Eva-01 violently tearing herself out of the Wunder

Re: EVANGELION:3.333 discussion thread
Hmm, I'm thinking maybe he notices how Rei 6 left so he'll wind up curious (unintentionally follow her? Let's assume she does leave the because her body begins falling apart, like in EoE and Until You Come to Me) and confront Gendo that way. More straightforward approach, and all that. Of course, an...

Re: EVANGELION:3.333 discussion thread
But how else would he find his way into Eva-01's cockpit again, since that's currently powering the Wunder? (Assuming, for simplicity's sake, we can take the latest trailer at face value.)

Re: Possible Spinoffs After 3.0+1.0
Post Shin Eva, I'm assuming we'll get a lot in the way of more manga and or video games? Which I'd enjoy, as long as it' s not just pachi slot games, lol. New anime and such, I don't know, because Anno later retracted his own "I want Eva to continue" comments. (In one of the many threads h...

Re: Evangelion 3.33 FAQ
3.0's bluray booklet does mention how the timeskip was planned from the start, yep. Like FriskyIan mentioned, too, a lot of what's in 2.0 (and even 1.0) wouldn't make as much sense story-wise without 3.0 happening afterwards.
