My screening was pretty flawless as well. It was a digital projection, probably of come video file of some sort provided to the theater on download by Funimation, but it was higher rez than Blu-ray from what I could tell. The picture was perfect, the subs weren't hard to read (because I usua...

I'm old-fashioned, I guess. You can pretty much copy+paste Steven Spielberg's thoughts on movie-watching in the theaters over to me. I wanted the anticipation of waiting for a theatrical release to build so I could get really, really excited over the movie. So I could have my first experienc...

I finally went to the theaters and saw Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance for the first time.

Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Tokyo S.O.S. Neither satisfying or unsatisfying. Just kinda fun.

I plan to post some Miyazaki reviews up soon. I was gonna post a review for Evangelion 2.0 after I see it today, but I'd much rather wait for the DVD and Blu-ray release so I can to a proper comparative analysis article between NGE 8-19 and NME 2.22.

^ +1, EvnangelionFan. Except for the Star Wars novels. I haven't read those, so I can't really say what characters were fully realized in them or not. Though just the idea of a movie needing supplemental material (books, video games, ect.) in order to understand or fully realize a re...

I was attending an anime party at a friend's house, and we started watching Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water . My friend said "If any of these characters look kinda familiar, it's because this was the show GIANAX did right before their more popular show Evangelion; their characters look ...

I'm going to see the movie tomorrow. Theoretically any technical difficulties they would have had would be worked out by then. I'm going with friends I haven't seen in a long time, so even if it is an over-glorified Blu-ray screening I will be getting something out of the trip. I'll ...

Oh, by all means I'm not trying to say they were perfect. Most of Menace was counter-productive, including Qui Gon and Maul. I'm just saying they could have had more potential in the prequels then most of the other characters. But seeing as how the writing sucks, I wouldn't think George ...

You're welcome. We use iDvd for burning and such. :cringe: Um... avoid using bright red at all costs. Red is a very tricky color for video to capture anyway, since red has the least amount of readable color shades for any video camera. Hi-8, Mini DV, HD, RED, it doesn't matter. It'...

Qui Gon and Darth Maul were the coolest characters in the prequel trilogy. Seriously. George Lucas isn't good at writing dialogue? Then only give Darth Maul one line. And Qui Gon looked like a rebel hippie Jedi, which is awesome. Neeson was a little better at embracing the wooden dialogue in the...

^camera angles, blocking and a pinch of CGI could go a long way That, or "apple boxes". Literally, you just put the actor on a box, and suddenly Tom Cruise looks 5'7". For some scenes, they've even made his girlfriend character walk in the trench so she looked shorter than him.

Freaky, we did want to explore at least three other levels of his consciousness. It again came down to time constraints and equipment quality. If you saw our storyboard, we actually wanted to end the film with an infinite mirror illusion after the "memory film" scene. We just couldn't...

How many of these class films have you made? Because this is a very good start if this is you first. To start with, you have a very strong sense of framing and cinematography. The lighting is very bland, but the piece didn't need any strong stylistic lighting anyway. Your sense of story-telling ...

I'd recommend you hear the whole symphony if you get a chance. I have all 4 movements of the Cleavland Orchestra version of it, which is similar to the orchestration used in Evangelion, and I do believe it is the best piece of music in recorded history.

My only iffy spot so far is: why is Bane white now? Tom Hardy is a British actor, and Bane was born in the Caribbean, likely a Latino. Now, I know the answer is as simple as typical Hollywood whitewashing, but I still retain a disposition against it. I'm sure Tom Hardy will do a great job with ...
